Before Having Baby, Did You Practice Parenting on a Pet?

The sack of flour or egg experiment of the '80s has given way to electronic dolls and video games, but the concept of caring for a baby is the same. While some couples decide to jump right into parenthood, others test their paternal or maternal skills on an animal first. From fish to lizards to cats and dogs, there are lots of great family pets. Did you partake in this practice?

I've never in my life been without a pet. :D So, I had plenty of practice.

We went pet free as we wanted to have no responsibilities for as long as possible :)

Betty Wayne — you bring up a great point. I don't fit into the 2.5 children picket-fence demographic either and will make more of an effort when creating poll options in the future. Thanks for the feedback.

Sassy... I was joking. As a 'sassy' chick you really should be able to recognize a joke. I think someone on lil just likes making polls, if only she would put more forethought into them. Not everyone who reads this blog fits into the 2.5 children picket-fence demographic.

They aren't a scientific organization-- they aren't going for valid results; they just to get an idea. I do agree that they need more options, but I'm not going to get worked up and call people "suckers".

lol I did the same Betty Wayne. I have asked on numerous polls for options for those of us who don't fit the options or just want to see the results but so far they rarely do it. I guess they don't mind that the results of their polls are skewed.

Feeling left out of this poll... some women aren't happily married and trying for a baby when they get knocked up. Wish you would include a 'no prep time, baby was a surprise' option. I mean seriously, there's not even a 'no kids, show me the results' option. FYI I voted for something that doesn't apply to me and skewed your poll results. Suckers!
