Did You Buy Maternity or Baby Clothes Before Being Pregnant?

Some women wait 12 weeks before they tell friends and family that they are expecting. Due to superstition, there are mothers-to-be that don't allow baby gear to enter their homes before their children's debut. But, what happens when a girl is out shopping and spots a to-die-for limited-edition maternity frock or sees a gorgeous crocheted bonnet and booties for a future babe, should she buy it to stow? Did you purchase any items prior to pregnancy?

My husband and I want to wait 3 years until we start a family. We talk (mostly me) about baby related thinks all the time. I especially love watching Discover Health baby shows. Unfortunately, I have started to buy clothes. I am not superstitious, so every time I go shopping I buy a few boy and girl outfits ranging from 3 months - 2 years. I'm crazy I know !!

It was extremely tempting to buy baby clothes and gear before I was pregnant, and I had a really hard time resisting the urge - but I didn't want to load up on stuff if a) conceiving took a while or we had troubles with infertility, or b) if we got lots of gifts and hand-me-downs.

hi all.l am currently 18 weeks preg.started buy things for the baby about a week ago.dont wanna buy things in a rush so we thought it would be better to buy something every month until when the baby comes.hope you all enjoy every moment of yur pregnancy.

no. but i have bought several baby blankets at gymboree KNOWING that we aren't having anymore babies. they are too cute to pass up!

I am not pregnant, nor are my husband and I currently trying but I do have a bag full of cute clothes in my closet for my future baby! I was the same way when all of my friends were getting married and I would go buy them lingerie and would buy a piece for myself here or there before I got married. I do the same thing as I shop for my friends and their babies.....pick up a thing or two here for myself. I see nothing wrong with it!

I'm not pregnant yet but we do plan to start trying at the end of the yr after we are moved into our 2br. However if I would see really cute things out now I would most likely buy them in fear I won't be able to find later. I'm pretty sure it would just be clothes and nothing else.

LOL - I'm 35 weeks pregnant and I STILL haven't bought any baby clothes!! My mom and mother-in-law and friends have all been buying clothes, so I have no need to buy any baby clothes (not to mention no cash - that's all being spent on cloth diapers). We have plenty already!!

i too have been trying for years- i have a trunk full of baby stuff that i couldn't resist buying over the years. however after i miscarried, i haven't been able to buy a thing.

I've been trying to get pregnant for years with no success, but I'm trying to stay optimistic. I haven't bought any maternity clothing yet, and the only baby stuff I buy is the Baby or Kid Juicy Couture stuff I find at stores like T.J. Maxx. That I just can't pass up :).

I waited quite a while to buy things. I'm a bit superstitious I guess. Didn't want to have to look at the stuff or pack it away if things didn't turn out well.

I have been tempted, but the all the awesome purchases I make go to pregnant friends or their wee ones. I dote on them vicariously.

I have purchased so many things from booties, onesies, stuffed animals, and blankets. I started when I was 18 it's now 6 years later and I still will buy something that I can just picture my future child/children wearing or using so amazing. I think over this time period I have only 8 pieces, I only purchase things that I know for sure I won't be able to find when I do have kids. I have no children now and I don't intend on having any in the future. I honestly don't know why I do it and my sisters ridicule me because of it.

I didn't buy anything till I was pregnant but those crochet booties are so darn cute I might buy them anyway!

At 5 months, I am only now starting to buy a small number of items. I didn't want to buy anything early in case something happened. Even now I worry; however, the anatomy u/s is only a few days away so I may go a little crazy after that!:prego:
