Cotton hospital gowns have been the butt of peek-a-boo jokes for years. As stylish women head to the delivery room, the much-maligned cover-ups have gotten a long overdue makeover. From added colors and chic prints to new cuts that showcase a mama's assets, we've rounded up a handful of "bring your own" hospital gowns.

I can understand why some people wouldn't invest in a gown if all that they expect is a normal labor and delivery but personally I LOVE designer hospital gowns. I have spent nearly 2 months going in and out of the hospital during my pregnancy (and I have other chronic health conditions that keep me in there at other times) and having even a little bit of comfort is nice. Of course I also make my own. I think the biggest issue with designer gowns now is they are marketed only to pregnant women. What about all the children out there who are in the hospital? Or normal people with chronic conditions that require extended care? It's a market that should be expanded. jentlejohnny.weebly.com

I bled over EVERYTHING. Unless I bought 3 - 5 changes of my own robes, I'd rather have the hospital deal with my dirty laundry. :)

I don't think I'd be willing to spend that much on something for delivery because of what runningesq said, on the other hand, having something of my own to change is post deliver would be excellent cause who wants to spend extra time in an icky gown when you are having visitors. A comfy pair of jimmies or a nicer night gown would be a perk for that I think.

My hospital doesn't allow anything but the hospital gown to be worn during l+d. Further, I don't know why you'd want to spend almost $100 on something that will get sweaty, bloody, pukey, etc.

I actually didn't want to be wearing anything after the delivery. They had a hard time keeping clothes on me! Only family and very close friends came to visit at the hospital, so I made sure to keep the blankets all around me.

I never understood why one would care what she is wearing during delivery. You get super gross and are pretty distracted at the time. Then after I was cleaned up, I just wanted to wear comfy sweats, not another gown, no matter how cute. Plus, most of these are pretty pricey to wear for a few hours. But to each her own.

You aren't there very long, is it really necessary to spend the money for one just because it looks nicer?
