Judging form the photo I thought it looked cute. After reading the comments I think I'll put it on the gift list. Can't get do too much teaching of patience and manners.

I absolutely love My Playful Chef kit. I love the cookbook that comes with the kit. My 3 & 5 year old boys love to be in the kitchen with me and this is a great way to get them involved without me tripping all over them. They LOVE the aprons, color coded recipes and tools and even better they have tried things and like them that they wouldn't touch previously. From a mom of 2 very picky eaters it has been GREAT! I would highly recommend it.

I love this product. It is one of the few products on the market that offer a "how to" for parents and their kids. I like that it offers skills in manners in addition to the cooking. When I have used this product with friends children, it is amazing to see how empowered the kids feel. I laugh now that my niece is the kitchen police as she reminds the adults to wash their hands each time they start a new meal. Also, it is great for working moms who have to leave their children with babysitters sometimes. It provides a nice activity that keeps kids engaged. I know the price does sound steep, but when you break down the whole package it is truly a bargain. I especially appreciate the company's fine eye to lead testing. Bargain stores are great, but I want to know that my kid is using toys and especially cooking utensils from a reliable source.

I can't wait to get one of these for my lil one. She loves playing with my appliances but often – I actually need them. This way, she has hers and I'll have mine!

Good comments, lil -- but I'd rather save my money, use what we have and just teach my kids that in life you must learn to share. (We have four under the age of ten, so it's a maxim that surfaces daily in our household.) But meal time should be happy time and your money was clearly wisely spent.

Actually, I think this is a pretty good deal. We cook together every night and to avoid arguments — I bought my daughter and son their own spatulas, spoonulas, tongs and timers (on sale) which set me back $30 per child. This comes with an apron, more tools and recipes that my 4-year-old feels a bit more independent making due to the color coding. Since cooking also helps teaches them math, patience and manners, I'd rather spend money on this than another toy.

This is cute, but a bit pricey. It doesn't seem very economical for the average family, and it seems surprisingly less fun than I would expect for the cost. I would purchase a plain, inexpensive pocketed apron and allow my child to decorate it with fabric paint -- that, alone, is a super fun project and it pesonalizes the apron to every child's preference. I would relinquish the idea that my child needs his own set of tools. Half the fun of childhood cooking is taking part in an adult activity. Just let the children explore the family cookware! Is there any better way to encourage independence and creative exploration? But even if I decided that I'd like to enrich the experience by presenting my tot with his very own set of measuring cups and spoons, I would purchase them cheaply at a discount store. If we want to elaborate on child-scale items, we can augment our family supplies by purchasing an Easy-Bake accessory set with many different tools and a floppy baker's hat for around ten dollars. So, yeah -- I guess I don't think this item is worth the money. At all.
