Daycare. My daughter is always sick . . . just wondering if other moms had similar problems with child care?

My daughter just started daycare at 11 months and had never been sick. Now it's going on week 3 and she has a constant runny nose, nasty cough and a low grade fever. I've been giving her meds and am worried that she's not going to recover unless I keep her home. I do want to build up her immune system though. For the Mom who gives her child multivitamins, how old is she?

My daughter's been in daycare for over a year now and has been sick once. I'm not sure if she has some sort of crazy immune system, haha, but she eats REALLY well, and she gets a liquid multi-vitamin, plus an omega-3, a probiotic, and a vegetable one (chewables). I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but just thought I'd throw that out there. I also make sure (like everyone else does I'm sure) that she gets a good scrub in the bathtub on daycare nights. So far we haven't had too much trouble.

This is why im totally afraid to put my baby in a daycare. Im trying to convince my mother (for the right price) to keep the baby when it comes. Really its just on top of all the other things i have to worry abou wiht regards to the baby, baby picking up germs and having to constantly go to the doctors is the last thing i want on my list. i guess its good to build up immunity, but what if one day its more that a cold or a flu the baby catches?

My daughter was constantly sick for the first year of daycare. She kindly brought home all kinds of bugs and germs to share, as well. It took about a year and then it just stopped - I think her immunity built itself up.

my niece is in daycare and she is literally sick every single day. She always has some cold or virus or strep throat, etc. Just too many kids with too many siblings and too much human contact on young immune systems to not get ill often.

Both of my daughters, ages 2 and 6, have attended daycare since 3 months old. They have been sick quite a bit, so this is not unusual as far as I am aware. I am just hoping it means they will have strong immune systems as adults. Hang in there, it does get better as they get older. My 6 yr old hardly ever gets sick any more, other than strep. That one seems to go around constantly. Take care.
