Is Being the Daughter of a Supermodel a Blessing or Curse?

What happens to the daughter of a mama who owned the runway? Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klum, and Christie Brinkley's mugs have sold millions of magazines and their incredible bodies have been used to promote everything from swimsuits to shoes. And, then all of these women had baby girls — Kaia Gerber, Clementine and new baby Vaughn, Leni and Lou Samuels, and Alexa Ray Joel and Sailor Cook. Do you think young ladies have it easier in life since they were born to stunning moms or have it harder since the children will inevitably be compared to the models?

Having a beautiful mother is not always easy. My mom is this gorgeous woman, not only beautiful but brains to die for. And I took over my father's gene, I'm not saying I'm this ugly duck or that I am unhappy wit my appearance; but I always wanted to look like my mom. When your mom is hotter than you it does get tough.

It's a blessing - if you get the good genes, and a curse if you don't. I really don't understand all the mention of Alexa Ray Joel here though... So she doesn't look like her mom. I still think she is gorgeous.

i googled christie brinkley's daughter right after i read the 1st comment and i couldn't believe that alexa is her daughter (no offense), i'm not saying she's unattractive, just that she looks nothing like her mother! i absolutely agree with the others that although they are constantly being compared, they grow up with privelaged. it also depends on the genetic lottery, it doesn't necessarily depend on the attractiveness of both parents to be beautiful!

It's gotta be a little hard to have every person you meet immediately compare your looks to your mother's. Of course they're still lucky to be born into a life of privilege, but it probably does a number on their self esteem.

I wouldn't say they have it "rough," given that they're born into a life of luxury and there are so many children out there born into extreme poverty, abusive/absent parents, etc. But, I do feel sorry for those who are always compared to their famous mothers. The media tends to portray them as failures if they're not as beautiful as their famous parents.

Whether or not they get the genes, they're being born to privilege, inevitably opening doors and making life easier. I don't really see a huge downside.
