Daughter's Kiss Deafens Mother

What better way to be welcomed home than with a kiss from the kids? This story may make you think twice about puckering up. A Hicksville homemaker lost her hearing after her daughter delivered a deafening kiss to her ear. The 4-year-old child's lip suction pulled Gail Schwartzman's eardrum out towards the ear canal and caused tiny ligaments to disconnect. While this was a rare and unintentional occurrence, doctors caution parents from kissing into their infant's ears.

I just emailed this to my boyfriend. He's always kissing my ear, and it's SO loud, it really hurts!! Hopefully he'll stop now.

I agree with foxie! My boyfriend feels so bad whenever he kisses my ear in a certain way, because it really hurts. I mean, not every kiss-on-the-ear is going to hurt, but in the wrong position it can be really loud and the suction is painful.

Wow, who knew? I've done that before when I was little but never knew it could do any damage. I hope she will be able to recoup her hearing and that her daughter will not be scared to kiss people after this.
