It's the story of a custody battle between an American father and mother, so how did their child end up in an Italian orphanage? Michael McCarty's life changed on March 5, 2007, when he received a call before going to pick up his son from school in New York and learned that his ex had taken their son to her native Italy. Once there, the government ruled that the woman was unfit to care for her son and placed him in an orphanage last April. The boy's biological dad has long been fighting to bring his now-8-year-old home. It's sad to think of the effects this situation will have on the once-carefree child.
