Do You Enter Your Child in Cute Contests?

What parent doesn't think their child is the cutest kid in the world? It's pretty hard not to adore every flaw, scar, dimple, strand of hair, and smile of your sweet pea. So when Gap, Live With Regis and Kelly, or Parenting magazine asks you to submit pictures of your darlings, it's pretty hard to resist, though some would rather keep their cutie patooties behind the lens.

Tell me, do you enter your youngsters in cute contests?

I just don't feel right about posting my kids pictures for everyone to see. There are some scary people out there! I know they're cute and would rather keep them to myself.

Greggie, I do know what you mean about the emails though. i hate feeling pressure to go vote for their child, which usually means registering and giving my email which means more junk mail... blahblahblah. Anyway, I wish your child luck and I will be more than happy to give them a vote if they make it to the final 5. Consider this my email, "will you vote for my child" if mine makes it. HAHA!

Just the gap one. Some 'contests' are just gimmicks to get your money.

Nope, I've never entered my children in any kind of contest. I don't agree with "cutest child" contests - all children are cute and I just disagree with these types of things in general. I also don't vote in them when I get requests from people to do so.

I don't understand how that will force me into "vote for my kid" emails, though. It unfortunately puts them in a vote, but I won't send out emails begging for votes. I'd only get like a whole ten votes that way anyway. *lol*

Well damn. Hopefully my kids won't make it that far then. I thought they chose their own. Teach me not to do those type of entries again.

In regards to Greggie, who is ok with the GAP contest because it is not voting. Sorry to inform you, but it is. If you read all the info, GAP chooses 5 kids from each category and then it is a online voting thing. So you would be forced to be the one sending the "vote for my kid" emails.

I don't usually enter my son. But I have entered him in the GAP contest.

I have. She actually won 2 cover shots and one of them came with a week long stay at a Club Med. Granted, she is a child model/actor and has been doing it since she was 3. She is in semi-retirement now though at the ripe old age of 8 b/c she is having teeth issues.

no i have not but we were approached this weekend to cast my daughter im just to scared to subject her to this at the age of 5 there is no denying that she is very beautiful with very unique features especially her eyes with the long eyelashes

I entered the Gap one, but doubt I will do most others. I'm also not naive enough to think my son is the CUTEST EVER. I mean, he's super cute of course, but it's doubtful he'll win anything.

I also wouldn't do one like Regis and Kelly, where they flash the picture on air and oooh and aaaah over it. It's cute to watch, though.

Rarely. I don't do "cutest kid" competitions at all, and I hate when people email me with "Vote for my child!!" requests. The Gap ad thing is different, it's not a vote. I'm trying to do commercial and print work for my kids, so I entered that. I don't know if it'll go anywhere and if it doesn't, no biggie.
