You've made your first post-delivery pediatrician appointment, your lactation consultant appointment and your six-week postpartum checkup appointment, but have you scheduled your lil one's post-delivery chiropractor appointment? In what must be the first of its kind, a New York City chiropractic office is offering realignments for babies just hours after exiting the womb.

Citing the stress the birthing process places on the spine, spinal cord, and cranium, a NYC doctor offers "loving, tender adjustment" to help release any tension that the wee one holds onto after delivery. While lying on her mama's lap, a doctor will apply a bit of pressure to the spine, helping the baby to relax and sleep more comfortably.

everyone I know who has been to a chiropractor continue to go, there is never a stopping point which concerns me. i am sure there are cases where it is necessary, but honestly- babies have done fine until this point and this isn't a "new" form of medicine..

I was skeptical initially as well, but now take both of my daughters for chiropractic adjustments. We have a family plan, so it doesn't cost any more than if just my husband and I went. Their immune systems really benefit from it as well.
This doesn't make any sense. Most of a baby's bones are still cartilage when they are born, they gradually harden to a bone consistency over the months to come. So to say they need a re-alignment when they are made to be birthed is ridiculous. Unnecessary money down the drain and I have no clue what the risks would be to a baby, but just doesn't seem like a good idea
My son was born with his ear tucked to his shoulder. Needless to say, it was a long and painful pushing stage for both of us. In the first week, he was constantly unsettled, held his head to only one side, crying and having digestive issues (he didn't poop for the first 8 days of life and so gassy he screamed constantly). At the advice of my midwives (I'm in Canada where midwife care for low risk pregnancies is more common), I took him to a specialist chiropractor when he was 8 days old. She was so benign and gentle that she did and adjustment while I nursed him. He slept wonderfully from then on, the crying stopped and he had a great big messy diaper that evening. Literally, from about an hour after his first adjustment, he was a calm, content, and happy baby. It's not for everyone, but when it's really needed, it can do wonders.

I have actually heard some reflux/colic/gerd symptoms in babies disappeared after a trip to the chiro. Just sayin'
I challenge anyone sceptic of this to actually try it! All 3 of my kids visited our chiro within the first 2 weeks of delivery. How comfortable would you be if you'd spent the last several months curled into a ball with your chin by your knees, and then had the Sh*t litterally squished out of you to bring you into the world?! I know that giving birth kicked the crap out of me and I definately benefitted from going back to my chiro, so why wouldn't a baby? I know a lot of people who where sceptic before having children and have found that their children have found great benefits seeing a chiro! My husband was one of them until he realized that a baby can't have a preconceived notion that it will make them feel better like an adult might.

This, like so many things, make you wonder how humanity has survived without it for centuries.
this is ludicrous! the same way g-d in his amazing way's designed a baby skull to overlap during birth( cuz otherwise it just makes no sense for something the size of a cantaloupe or bigger to fit thru a 10 cm opening) so it could fit thru the birth canal, don't you think that he would make their spines soft and bendy enough to deal with it as well? and why as long as this is being offered, isn't it just as painful to be smushed in fetal position the last three months of pregnancy? i would think that having my head between my legs for three months might make me a bit woozy, lets prescribe in utero massages! this whole thing is crazy!
