Child Safe Tee: Kid Friendly or Are You Kidding?

If your small fry tends to slip away while you're in crowded places, would you put a shirt with your cell phone numbers and his allergies on it? Child Safe Tee ($18 - $20) garments do exactly that. The shirts were created for children that wander off or get lost in crowded places like amusement parks and street fairs. For parents wary of posting their personal info for all to see there's a top with a flip up panel that hides the information. What's your opinion?

I also think it's a great idea. Personally, I would have the information on the inside of the shirt. For me, the bottom line is that if your kid gets lost, 99% of the people he comes into contact with will want to help, and the shirt will provide them a way of doing that. If he runs into the other 1%, then it won't matter whether the info is on the inside or the outside. Scary, but true.

Nice site but I feel that several of your surveys are unfairly put forth with inaccurate information. You should contact the company to make sure the information put in your surveys are accurate and not misleading with missing information. The one above is a perfect example of what i mean, this company offers to put the parents cell phone numbers on the inside of the shirt hiding it from public eye and never puts the name of the child anywhere on the it. This was obviously not scene or understood by your readers as you can see from there responses. Be carful of how you word your surveys because you are inaccurately and unfairly damaging the product and reputation of the companies offering them.

A note to all we are the manufacturer of Child Safe Tee and have read and do appreciate your comments. We are disappointed that Lil Sugar has not made it clearer that there is an option that exists addressing your concerns. This option allows you to print your cell phone number etc on the inside of the shirt so the information is hidden from public view. We have asked Lil Sugar to allow us to help make it clearer but they are unwilling to do so. Their has been a large amount of research done with law enforcement and medics before we allowed our product to go public and have already addressed all the valid concerns you mentioned above. We would never put out a child safety product that would have the opposite effect and put a child in danger that is why we never print on the shirt the child’s name, town, etc which a child predator can use. I absolutely think this is a great idea! For one, my son has many food allergies. If he were lying on the ground in anaphylactic shock, the t-shirt would give an indication of what is wrong with him. Also, I really believe a predator would not target a kid with a shirt on like this. It draws too much attention and that is what predators avoid. I looked up the website and it says there is an option to put your information on the inside of the t-shirt-for those of you worried about that. The only information going on it is your cell phone number and if the kid has an allergy and I see nothing wrong with that. Also, is it really any safer for you all to be posting pictures of yourselves and your kids on the internet for ALL to see? Pedophiles search the internet for photos of kids. Great idea to help keep ours kids safe! I am ordering one!

I am the grandmother of four children ages 6 and under and I think these shirts are brilliant! I especially like the fact that they don't carry the home phone number or photo of the child, just cell phone numbers. My grandkids spend many hours at Mr. Biggs, the playgrounds and shopping mall with their parents. When my son was three years old he escaped under the dressing room door while I was trying on clothes. I had to throw some clothes on before I could go after him and ran frantically through the mall. I was terrified. You can bet I'm going to get these shirts for my grandkids!

Wow, i can't believe these responses. I have 3 boys that at times wander off, and this is the perfect idea to give me comfort if i cant find them right away. i have even been in situations of finding a 2 year old , that couldn't tell me their number and located a security guard at the mall to help me find the parents. First thing, they don't offer to put a name on the shirt. 2nd, the size of the phone numbers are as small as the tattoos and bracelets that were mentioned, that people can also see. You even have an option to have the number to print inside the shirt that noone will see making it safer than the other products mentioned. Remember it is a cell phone number going to a parent, not the kiddos. I also like that this shirt works for itself because the kid may be to scared to bring attentioin to the other products. I love this product, would love to see more designs though.

my 3.5 year-old is on the autism spectrum. if he got lost (one of my biggest fears) he would not be able to tell anyone his name or anything else. he can say his name, but no one could really understand him at this point. so, i like the idea a lot, but would use a wristband label. i always heard not to put your kids' names on t-shirts, etc. b/c it could provide an easy way for a child predator to make the first connection with the child...like "hey billy, your mom said you needed to come with me." scary.

These shirts are pretty much the equivelant of what I have on my dog's collar in case she gets lost. Although she's not allergic to peanuts...

I agree with everyone else on here..Kinda scary to have this on a t-shirt. The allergy info is great though..but I would do the wrist band before the tee.

Maybe if the info was on his tag, but not displayed for everyone to see. I can imagine some mean kid sneaking the food a kid is allergic to just "to see" what would happen if he ate it.

i think the wristband and tattoos are cute, but i can't stand this on a shirt... it seems more dangerous than helpful

I actually think the idea is right, but not on a t-shirt. They make cool temporary tattoos (that kids love to wear anyways) that have the parents information. The reality is that children do get lost from their parents, especially in large places, and it is smart to have the parents info somewhere.

This is a good idea because if a child has a food allergy or anything of that nature, they can be identified and looked after. But, this is a very bad idea in the aspect of having personal information on a public display such as a shirt. That to me sounds more dangerous than a child walking away but going to someone for help.
