You Know You're a Mother When: Cereal Dinners

Before baby, when my husband was out of town or had dinner plans, I lined up sushi and sake dates with my girlfriends and headed out for some fun. Now that I am a mom, a 7 p.m. bowl of cereal is my idea of heaven.

When the sun starts to set and my oldest rascal gets hungry, I put on my mommy hat and whip up something creative, tasty and nutritious for her dinner. After bath and bedtimes, I'm back to the kitchen to cook up something for the old man and myself. But when he's out of town, you can bet a dose of Special K cereal does the trick.

I do this all the time as well. I've actually started buying my Cheerios in bulk because it's so much easier. I don't know about babysugar, but my one year old can be such a handful at mealtimes that it's highly unlikely I could get in much of a dinner and keep him from creating chaos, so eating cereal later is just easier some days.

I used to only be able to eat cereal as a snack/lunch/dinner. I HATED it for breakfast. Only recently have I been able to see it as a breakfast food...but I still have it for other meals and snacks pretty regularly.

LaurenG22, I do that, too but I prefer cereal to that. Maybe it's just the idea of simplicity that's so appealing to me?

I LOVE breakfast for dinner lickety :) I do cereal for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack. I've never thought of it has a breakfast only food. I just don't get that. If you want a certain food they why can't you have it at whatever time you want it :shrug:

my whole family thinks i'm a freak because i like breakfast for dinner when it's cold out, or on a lazy weekend day, etc. only in the last few months do my girls not complain (youngest is now 8) and my husband has a fit! there is something comforting about breakfast food to me. pancakes, ceral, cocoa, it's all good whenever if you ask me :raspberry:
