Burdened by Brag Books, Sonogram and Pint-Sized Pics?

In the 1980s, families forced hour long home videos of junior taking a bath on their helpless victims. And, while that is truly something only a mother can love, the latest trends for showcasing kids are a bit less time consuming.

It seems everyone has a sonogram snapshot, Flip cam clip or brag book to browse. Along with the easy share capabilities that companies like Shutterfly have opened up for emailing milestone pictures by the hundreds.

And, it's not proud parents, toting and transmitting images of the tykes, it's grandparents and other relatives.

Do you think these methods are awesome or overkill?

Pictures of the actual child post birth is fine. Bring on as many as you want to share. Sonogram pictures? I have an entire album but I am the only one that knows what I am looking at (I am a sonogram tech).....I share the excitement with perspective parents but those pictures don't mean much to anyone else. I know people who have created Facebook pages for thier unborn child complete with updated sonogram picts...which seems a bit ridiculous to me.

I may like to see a few nice shots of someones baby or sonogram..but really sometimes they have 6 or 7 shots of almost the same picture and a dozen sonogram pics. it can get annoying to go through a hundred pictures of other people's kids. like "aww that's cute. ohh, that one's cute. wow, he/she's very cute" come on!! keep it simple...short and sweet.

gawd i could care less about everyone elses offspring, i work in an office of women and every freaking day its another round of pictures i am forced to look at feigning interest while i would rather be getting a pap smear or something equally as fun.

Ok, I'm guilty. I take gazillions of pics almost every day. I keep a little brag book in my purse and I also have a brag book that I keep at work. Plus I email all the new pics to all of my family. Hey - he's the first baby in the family since I've been born (29 years ago!), I can't help it! *Sigh* He's gonna be spoiled rotten. :)

i don't carry anything like that, but i do have pictures on my cell phone, if someone asks, i'm happy to share. i like looking at other people's pictures and stuff. i recently saw a friend i hadn't seen in ages and the first thing we did was trade cell phones so we could look at each other's pictures. :)

I LOVE BABY PICTURES!!! If these pictures are of a family members or friends childrens or niece nephew I want to see them!I would rather go thru a slideshow of pictures then sit down and watch home videos (hate home videos!!)My fav of all time was a slideshow my friend did of her niece with her favorite song LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!

I think it's completely natural for parents to have a ton o' pictures of their babes. We have 1000's. I upload them to shutterfly once a month, or so and send them out for everyone (not a 1000, I narrow it down). I also have them on my ipod, my husband has them on his phone and my brother has them on his iphone. We're all a tad bit obsessed.

I will admit to going a bit overboard with my newborn. I take pictures nearly every day and upload them to Shutterfly (as well as my LJ and blogger accounts) and email the links to friends and family a couple of times a month. But for the most part, I don't feel like I have forced people to look at them. That's what is great about sending a quick link; they can look or not and it's their choice. I do have some pictures printed and have shown them to people I don't regularly email or those without email (like grandparents), but mostly stick with email and internet for sharing. The digital age has made it very convenient and I think has actually made it easier to be less obnoxious.
