Sex Talk With Sons Is Toxic For Britney Spears

Isn't it ironic? Britney Spears is a sex symbol to some folks, but the mom of two dreads the day she'll have to tell her sons about the birds and the bees. In the August edition of Cosmopolitan, she said, "I'm dreading the moment when my sons ask me how babies are made." Sean Preston and Jayden James are 4 and 3, so the singer better start prepping or let her boys' daddy, Kevin Federline, field their questions. Have you ever been nervous to have a conversation with your kids? What was the topic?

My son is four and asked me how the new baby got in my belly. I told him daddy and I worked together to make the baby. He asked how, so I told him when two people are making a baby, the daddy's penis gives the mommy what she needs. He said oh okay, and that was what I thought was the end. Until of course his pre-school teacher told me that he told her penises are magic baby wands. They all loved that.

My three-year-old has already asked about how babies are made, so I told her "Babies aren't made, they're grown. They grow inside women's wombs and then they are born." She has already had quite a few questions about the difference between boys and girls. Having a transgendered person in the family, my explanation is this: "Most boys have boy parts and boy brains. Most girls have girl parts and girl brains." The questions I dread are religious questions. I was raised without religion. However, she will be exposed to religion, because her paternal grandparents are devout Mormons and she has an aunt and uncle who are practicing Christians (I'm not sure of the denomination). So she's going to ask me about what she sees in those houses, and I'm going to have to run to Google (isn't that sad?) or the kids' section of the library to find out what the answers are!

I really don't dread it. I'm gonna take a laid-back approach like my mom did. I don't think we'll ever have 'the talk'. I'll just answer questions as they come up and explain things she sees on TV and stuff. Sex was never like this big mystery growing up. And my mom was never embarrassed about it. Baby girl is way too young for this to be a topic yet, but I tell her 'boys have a penis and girls have a vagina' just to piss off her dad ;) he doesn't want his baby to ever find out! ;)
