One of the first questions people seem to ask after you give birth is if you plan to nurse your baby. It is also a topic that invites both welcomed advice and unsolicited opinions.
When the federal government tried to encourage breastfeeding, it created a number of public service ads that were viewed as scare tactics by some mothers who opted for the bottle.
In summer 2006, New York City hospitals removed the free baby formula from gift bags gifted to new parents.
