The Mother-Daughter Relationship

Merida and Queen Elinor's relationship, which evolves tremendously throughout the course of the movie, is something that every mom (and daughter) will relate to in one way or another. From Merida's angst-filled outburst to her mom's attempts to groom her teenage daughter for the life that she's been born into, watching their dynamic is truly one of the highlights of Brave.

We got to see Brave at Pixar this weekend, and while I was a little worried that my 2 1/2 year old would be scared of a few of the scenes he was absolutely entranced, and still talks about the bears from the film — but he wasn't freaked out by them. I also got pretty teary eyed with the mother/daughter theme and wanted to call my mom and apologize for being a teenager! Definitely a great family movie.
