Despite the gargantuan stature of patriarch King Fergus, the medieval kingdom in which they reside, and a few other surprises that pop up along the way, there's something refreshingly real about the dynamic of this "royal family." From the knowing glances (and occasional eye rolls) exchanged between King Fergus and Queen Elinor to big sister Merida sneaking her little brother's sweets under the table, Brave's approach to the family dynamic has a more modern, realistic vibe than many of its predecessors.
