Blogging About Baby: Kid Friendly or Are You Kidding?

Twenty-first century moms are faced with a new Hamletian dilemma: to blog or not to blog?

As soon as that stick shows a positive parents start planning, taking notes and trying to capture memories of the exciting milestone moments. Many have traded in the baby books of yesteryear for websites and blogs dedicated to their pregnancy, childbirth and baby or family photos.

While some families update sporadically as a way to share photos and special experience with family and friends, there are some mommies like Heather Armstrong of Dooce who blog full time. What's your take? Do you like the idea of blogging about your child?

I live in a different country than everyone else in my family, so blogging about my new baby helps them feel like they aren't so far away. I would never put anything embarassing up though about my daughter... you're right, she will grow up one day.

I like blogging a lot. I only share the website with family, though. It's to keep them up on my family even though they don't live close.I'm also careful on embarrassing stories. My oldest doesn't like it when I share funny stuff he did, so I don't do it. My middle revels in it. *lol*

I have mixed feelings about baby blogging... 1)it is nice that parents get all their experiences and baby emotions out there - to an extent, if they write about it, then they won't be talking about it 150% of the time, so it gives them room for other adult conversations. 2)it alows other parents to read about what others are experiencing with their children and creates a forum to share suggestions and recommendations... However - where I think it can go wrong is with some embarasing stories or pictures about the child... parents need to remember that this child WILL grow up. and by the time they grow up they'll have to live with the fact that everyone online may have seen their first bath, their adventures with poo, etc... you get my point - all those pictures that get you embarassed when your mom shared them with your friends and boy friends... well, they're online now. Present experiences are great... but always think of the future before posting... that's all i have to say :-)
