This is hysterical, what a boring party. I went through a phase when I was a child when I would only eat white colored foods (mashed potatoes, rice, bread, vanilla ice cream with whipped cream), and my family thought I was nuts. I would think the same if someone served me these food suggestions at their child's birthday party :)

I agree, Anon3. If I went to a party with a group of toddlers and there was vanilla cake with vanilla frosting and vanilla ice cream, I'd wonder why the person bothered having a party if they were that uptight about stains. Through five kids and numerous parties with colorful icing, chocolate ice cream, and a variety of juice colors, I've never had a single stain. The kids sit at the table and eat.

Why do they keep saying things will get all over everything? Personally, I don't let kids run all over my house with food no matter what day it is. They can sit at the table and eat cake and chocolate ice cream. Why assume the kids are little monsters? I've had plenty of parties and I've never had a problem.

I also think most of the food do and don'ts are ridiculous. Have fun, it's one day a year. Glitter most certainly does vacuum up, and if you don't want staining, have it in an area where spills don't matter, or put down some drop clothes.

I say don't schedule during YOUR child's naptime, and leave it at that. I think it's ridiculous to schedule around a bunch of guests' naps as well. If it's a bad time for them they can decline the invite. There's nothing wrong with saying you're unable to attend.
