Best US Lighthouses

One of the most recognizable (and tallest) lighthouses in the country, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is also one of the biggest tourist attractions for Summer vacationers in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Visitors can climb to the top from late April through Columbus Day each year for lil ones at least 42 inches tall.

Standing at the edge of one of the Atlantic Ocean's most treacherous areas, the lighthouse remains in working condition, sending off its light every 7.5 seconds. The most exciting tours are given during Summer's full moons when night tours are given up the 248 stairs of the structure.
