The Beckham Boys Are Brotherly and Well-Mannered

As the Beckham boys learn the ins and outs of being famous, they are also learning proper etiquette. Mama Victoria recently proudly spoke to The Times about her sons' good manners. She said:

"My mum and dad were real sticklers for good manners and so are me and David. People are always remarking on how well-behaved the boys are. They've all got their own headed notepaper for thank-you letters.”

Good manners are a lesson for life and if you teach them to your kids early on, they become automatic. Saying "please" and "thank you" and writing notes goes a long way.

We've all got our own parenting styles, but are you a stickler for manners?

Good for them! I think it's great that parents teach their children good manners from a young age, but I'm not a mother so I don't know how difficult that might be. btw Spanish speakers consider rude saying things like "me and David", I mean naming yourself before other people, there's even an old saying about that. But probably it's different in English grammar

I think it's all subjective to who we're talking to, where we are, etc. I don't find "Miss" to be respectful. I don't find it disrespectful at all, I just prefer the child and parent ask me what I want to be called. I'm fine with my first name, or Mrs Lastname if we don't know them well. Ours kids call adults what they request to be called, which nine times out of ten is the first name alone, or their first name with Aunt/Uncle in front if it's a close friend. We teach please and thank you very strongly, but if it's a stranger they're uncomfortable talking to I'll say it for them. They aren't allowed to grab an item and run, for instance, but I don't force them to speak to strangers either. If it's Grandpa and they don't say thank you, that's another story.

I really like good manners and proper titles. Aunt such and such and Miss, etc. A good friend of mine has raised her two children so well, and they always call me Miss Katrina. Its just so respectful and polite.

i dont have kids yet but i am a stickler for manners as well.. and one thing i cant stand and would not tolerate is rudeness :)

I also am a stickler for manners. And I think this is great, I have to say that I am not a huge fan of the Beckhams, but the more I see them with their kids and hear about their parenting style, the more I am starting to respect and like them!
