Great ideas babysugar! On the subject of diapers, diapers.com has gift certificates which make great presents. It's an amazing service. I can't believe I used to lug organic baby food jars, wipes, diapers, detergent, baby products, etc. from the store with my kids. Now I just order online and it's at my house the next day. I don't even pay shipping.

Where's diapers? The best idea for a new mom, especially one that has a lot of the basics already, is diapers. Or, if she's cloth-diapering, diaper covers. I begged people not to give us white onesies because they rarely lasted more than a day or two. *lol* I'd love a carseat cover for our Triumph, though. But I'm pretty sure they don't make one that size.
