Pregnancy brings out both the best and worst in people. LilSugar reader beaner shared her latest revelation about pregnancy in The Pregnancy Posse group.

I'm due at the end of August and have been working on my baby registry. I'm trying to ask all the moms I know for advice, but I'm still feeling overwhelmed. I'd love to hear everyone's list of their top five Items for baby. Is the Diaper Genie a must? Do you love a specific model baby carrier? Best breast pump? This mom-to-be-thanks you in advance!

Enough about baby, lets talk about what YOU will need after baby is here: 1. Postpartum Abdominal Binder 2. C-Panty c-section underwear (if you have a c-section, to help heal the incision). 3. Boppy to help with nursing 4. Diastasis Rehab splint to help with abdominal separation 5. Undercover Mama - turns any shirt into a nursing shirt. Keeps from exposing your stomach, sides and belly to the world when you are trying to nurse.
Gas drops were a must those first few weeks for my baby, even when breast feeding she was still super gassy so they really helped. Receiving blankets, because they are multipurpose--think burp cloth, swaddle, towel, the list goes on and on and if you have a lot you can always have one on hand. SwaddleMe Swaddler--My little girl was making it through the night 5-7 hours around 2 months old and I swear it was this swaddle that did it. My Jeep carrier was also a great buy--helped me get some much needed grocery shopping and out of the house time, still knowing baby was cozy. And finally, her Fisher Price Lamb Swing (swings three different directions)--there isn't a single gift that wasn't more useful than this. Bella still takes naps in her swing on occassion at 6 months now, and in the begining it was the ONLY place she would nap during the day.
1. PAMPERS swaddlers/cruisers are the BEST! 2. LOTS of pacifiers! Be sure your babe learns to take it... it will save your sanity in the future!! 3. Insulated lunch box/bottle holder for feedings on the go.. even if you're nursing! 4. Nursing cover! You will find yourself with company over or at a friend's house or somewhere else in public when babe gets fussy! Nothing worse than making your company (who came to see baby) sit alone with hubby for an hour while you go upstairs to nurse! Wasn't able to nurse much, so didn't have my own, but have seen really cool ones on other mamas! http://www.nursingcovers.com/ 5. Jogging stroller for all types of terrain! 6. Britax Marathon! 7. Bouncy seats! One for upstairs, one for downstairs. Sitting the seat outside my shower was the only way I even got a shower in the beginning! 8. Exersaucer! Once babe is mobile, this is a safe spot to put him/her while you pee, or shower, or let the dog out, etc. 9. Pacifier clips to attach to carseat!!!!!!! Nothing worse than losing a binky in the car while on a long trip. A screaming baby makes everyone upset! 10. Nightlight for the nursery so you don't have to turn on the lights in the room to see. Couldn't keep it down to only 5.. and there are probably 10 more MUST-haves!! Good luck and congrats!!
I don't think you need a diaper genie--I had a waste basket with a foot pedal and top and that was perfect. Things I loved: 1. medela pump in style 2. pampers 3. playtex nurser bottles 4. macclaren umbrella stroller 5. a really good camera :)

A boppy is a must. It's very versatile for you and baby. A good floor mat for when they're little. My wee one loved her Baby Einstein one with the world light on it. It entertained her for hours. Aveeno baby products are the best and smell great. I would suggest you not get a breast pump until you are sure you are able to breast feed. It can be really hard and it doesn't work for many women. Don't waste your money on something that is completely nonreturnable until you know for sure your milk has come in and flowing properly.

anything that comes in lots of different varieties that take a while to get used to - bottles, carriers, cloth diapers. It's nice to be able to find what you like without spending 200 bucks to do so.

as a brand new mom, i second the need for lots of bottles (though I am breast feeding), I love having cloth diapers and swaddling blankets, newborn soothie pacifiers, diapers, diapers, diapers :) I also rented a pump from the hospital (Medela) for $50 a month- totally worth it!

Some kind of carrier (wrap, Bjorn, whatever you like...I'm still trying to figure out which type I like best) Diaper Bag Bottles (even if you're breastfeeding) Stroller Bouncy seat The diaper pail was a waste....for us anyway. Who wants to leave dirty diapers in their nursery anyway. I had a Playtex pump but maybe look into renting one from your hospital, depending on how long you plan on pumping. I hear they are much better quality.
1. Clouds and Stars ZIP OFF SHEETS!!!! (I have the bedding set that matches my nursery, all I've ever used is the bed skirt) 2. Baby Ergo 3. Aden + Anais Muslin blankets 4. Bebe au lait nursing cover (in linen - I use it to nurse, as a cover when baby is sleeping in the ergo or stroller or carrier, on the plane as a sneeze guard, as an emergency blanket, etc) - 5. 1. Pack 'n' Play (love that it really is portable) 2. Ergo (love that it's convertible) 3. Fisher Price Space Saver High Chair (Easy to clean, adjustable, compact) 4. Medela Pump In Style 5. Boppy Also, you need some kind of swing, a bouncer chair, an activity mat. and a car seat, but I don't think brands are terribly important with these. A jumper is key though. My daughter loved her Fisher Price Jumperoo, which was great because it was free standing and didn't require a dedicated door way.
Rocking Baby adjustable ring sling, MotherEase Sandy's bamboo diapers, Nursing Buddy nursing pillow with a cushy cover, thermal carafe/insulated water bottle to keep water handy for middle of the night feedings, and a heating pad for the body aches and to help keep you warm during middle of the night feedings.

I love my Ameda Purely Yours pump and would definitely recommend it to anyone. It has the little diaphragm that the Medela In Style doesn't have, so it keeps the milk closed off from the motor & tubing. Other stuff I couldn't live without are my Skip Hop Pronto Changing Wallet, Miracle Blanket for swaddling, Graco Snug Glider Swing (travel swing that you pop the car seat right into - helps if the LO is going down for a nap and you know you have to go somewhere soon), and the Breast Friend pillow for nursing. I also swear by my stroller, the Baby Jogger City Mini - LOVE IT!
