Every pregnant woman wonders when her water is going to break. Will she be at work or wet the floor? Who will clean up the liquid mess while she rushes to the hospital? Well, some mamas-to-be never experience the gushing and it's not because their doctor ruptures the bag of waters for them. Though it's rare, some babies are born in the caul, meaning they are delivered in the amniotic sac. Normally, the membrane is then broken by the medic or midwife. According to lore, a veiled infant was lucky and would never drown.

My daughter was born en-caul 6 weeks ago. She was named after my grandmother who also born en-caul. Amazingly we had chosen her name months before she was born!

I came across your very interesting webpage, My elderly mother was born with a caul back in 1923 she is obviously in her 87th year i have read that if a person is to pass away then the caul should be by rights buried or cremated along with themselves as if it is not then the spirit of that person trys to find the caul is this true or is it just a myth my mum still has her caul in a metal tin covered by a cotton handkerchief i have also realised that if my mum is ill then the caul will fold up around the edges and will straighten itself out when she is feeling well has anybody heard of this before.........it does find it hard to believe but i have witnessed this by my own eyes.

I was born at home in 1947. The Dr. put my vail in a solution, in a see through small bottle. I still have it. I saw it years ago when I was small, not knowing what I was looking at. It appeared to be skin folded up like a small piece of clotrh, it was skin, not a birth sack. I am gifted, as I grow older, it gets stronger. I have come to the conclusion, if used for good, is good. If used for selfish reasons, it could be bad. I pray a lot and use my ability sparinly, it can scare others, I never want to hurt anyone. I hope to find others to pray for world healing before it is to late. I truly feel we can make a difference. Do not be afraid we can change with our creators help. Love to all Gloria

Well i was born in that way since my mom say that the doc have to broke the sac and the nurse clean me up and they told my mom they never seen baby born in those way before.1 of the nurse that been working in the hospital for really long time says it pretty shocking for her in the way i was born and the hospital took my veil/caul and never give it to my mom although my mom ask for it.i guess they keep it for reasons although i wish i still have my veil/caul with me.about special ability hmm hard to talk about it since idont think im special and always think im a weirdo and wondering why i was born like that since everytime my mom told any1 how i was born people look at me weirdly like im a freak so basically its hard for me being around people and thinking i was born in weird way and weird things always happen to me.i guess some other baby that born in the way i was born will be much lucky then i am i hope.

My son was just born in October and came out in the sac. He was born very quickly and came out almost before the nurses were ready. It was a very easy labour for me and once he was born the nurses broke the sac on the hospital bed where he was laying. Kind of neat, but never had time to think of a picture or anything like that. Defenitely easier to push out then my first one!

My almost 3 year old daughter was born in her unbroken sack. Its was truly amazing to see. She didnt even realize she has been born was just "floating" around in it sucking her thumb. i also put it down to why i had such an easy pushing time i only pushed twice and she was out compared to 5 hours with my other baby. She was also such a relaxed baby, and scored a perfect 10 on that score thingo they do straight away. Went straight to the boob where she camped for a few hours. When i go back for another im going to ask them not to break my waters (they attempted with m3 but she was to high up then well she decided she was coming out and there was no time). I only wish we had thought to take a picture but where to amazed. The midwife who delivered her said apparently babies born in the waters will never drown. It was the first baby she had delivered in the waters and she had been a midwife for 30 years.

My grand baby a little girl was born with the caul (amniotic sac) over her entire head. It was shiny and looked like a clear latex glove. There was nothing nasty about it. The midwife tore it off her face and cleaned her nose out when just her head was out. Than my daughter pushed the rest of her slowly out. I just am so happy she is ok. I will keep an eye on her pshycic ability. As I am a healer and have premenitions.

My son was born in his sac. He was delivered early because of the lack of amniotic fluid via c-section. So the doctor delivered him unbroken sac and all. He is only 6, so I am not sure if he is psychic (probably not), but he is really really lucky. Let him scratch off your lotto ticket and 9 times out of 10 you will at least win a free ticket. He is also very academically inclined, he is on a 6th grade level in all subjects. Not sure if he is talented because of the way that he was delivered, because of the over stimulation in the incubator, or if that is just how he was made. Whatever the case witnessing his life from the moment of birth until now has been an amazing site.

I was born in the caul. The nurse who delivered me (the doctor was stuck in traffic) broke the sac once I was out.I'm not psychic, and I'm definitely not lucky!

My grandfather was born with the caul on his face. His mother kept the caul for him because it was said to give you good luck. He saved the caul all his life and was buried with it. I never saw it, but my mother said it looked like a potato skin.Believe it or not, he did have some physic abilities and was just an amazing person. I miss him.

Supposedly people born like that are psychic, Jude. My mother-in-law was born with it on her face or something. I was really freaked out when she told me the story because I was pregnant. ...luckily they had to induce my labor. (Come to think of it, I don't even remember where 'my water' went.) I was a little late and they were worried since they thought she was under 6lbs. They didn't want her to become stillborn. I was just happy to get her OUT.

I started leaking a slow trickle of my water while at work. I honestly at first thought I had sneezed/laughed too hard and peed a little. But when I left work and went home, I called the doc and he told me it was my water and that I needed to get to the hospital immediately. Oh and Nevadamtnbear, you should probably ask a friend at work if they would be willing to drive you to the hospital should the need arise. I had a designated friend at work for that. I was told by the birthing class teacher that it would be very dangerous for a woman having contractions to be on the road driving.

I had those same awful thoughts, I was convinced my water was going to break in public but my water broke at home...I went to bed and then 10 minutes later had a huge contraction that hurt so bad I thought it was making me pee...I clinched and hurried to the bathroom...my water broke on the toilet! Maybe it was all those kegals, I somehow managed to hold it in, my hubby was very impressed!

Heard of it, but don't know anyone personally. Ironically, I was just corresponding with my girlfriend yesterday about being paranoid about where I'll be when I go into labor. I was thinking that very thing - what if my water broke at work and it was a gush? Who would clean it up? Would I get a ride to the hospital or dive myself?
