Aristabrat Pacifiers: Ga Ga or Gag?

Every new parent believes that their lil prince or princess deserves the finest of things, but are posh pacifiers a baby's best friend? Aristabrat thinks so. Outdoing all rhinestone pacifiers we have previously seen, the company has created a line of Swarovski-encrusted soothers for those born with a silver spoon in their mouths. The Princess of Wales sucker above ($120) features 330 crystals and is supposed to remind us of Diana's "humanitarian love for all mankind." Either that, or the jewels that are on display at the Tower of London.

Would you buy one of these soothers for your babe, or even as a gift?

Actually this pacifier was created to all the standards of the16 CFR 1511 requirements. WHich means its completely safe for your baby and even when boiled in water the stones are made to not come out.

A child would be unlikely to choke to death on them. However, inhaling it while in the mouth or throat would be a big risk, and that would be very dangerous. It could also lodge itself in the throat since it has an edge that could catch and adhere itself. So the choking risk is real, even if it would more likely simply be swallowed and pass through the system.

I would think the stones would fall off too. I don't think I would worry about choking as much as them swallowing something foreign like that. And even if it was deemed harmless who needs sparkly poop?

I never used a pacifier with my daughter and would definitely not buy these. However, I don't think the crystals would be a choking hazard b/c they are so tiny(most of them). I am not saying that makes it okay, but I think they would just "pass through".

The choking hazard has always come to mind when I see these. They have really cheap versions with rhinestones that look exactly the same. I love them and think they're adorable, but I'm also too afraid that one would fall off and go right into my daughter's mouth.

They are cute, but too expensive even for a gift and they probably shouldn't be used. I would be afraid of a choking hazard!

I think the money could be better spent/saved/given away. How about starting the old college fund with that chunk of cash instead. You could feed starving people.

if i was very rich, i would buy this as a silly gift for someone...I think it is so over the top that it is funny. Again, only if money were no object! But never for my own tot!

first of all I'd never give that to my child or any other child on basis that the stones can come unglued and choke the child. Second I guess you might buy it for 'show' but I dont to that. And that is way too expensive for my taste.
