Did You Chance Pregnancy Once You Got Engaged?

Did you toss your pills once the ring was on your finger? Lots of couples assume that it will take a while to get pregnant, especially if the woman has been using contraceptives for years so they forgo using the pill, condoms, or what have you once they decide to get hitched. And as a result there are women who walk down the aisle with a bun (visible or otherwise) in the oven. Did you take your chances once you knew you were to wed?

#14--You were very lucky to have conceived under those circumstances. Either your agre or the fibroids could have prevented you from getting pregnant. It's possibly your doctor unwittingly stopped you from losing your last chance.

Older bride 35+, we had been together for 4 yrs, got engaged on Thksgiving cruise for early Fall wedding. In Apr., dr. said there was a possibility due to uterine fibroids couldn't conceive. Boohoo'ed all the way home. So no more pills and got preggers that June....damn that dr.

I've never been in the situation but probably can't take the pill anyway because my mother's had breast cancer so I wouldn't mind if I were with a guy knew we were getting married and ended up pregnant before the wedding granted that would be repeating a cycle as my mother was 3 months pregnant with me when she married my father August 26th 1984 as I was born March 5th 1985 of course she also could never take birth control because it fooled her body into thinking she was pregnant all the time and with he she was severly sick and hospitalized a few times during the pregnancy so I know to avoid that

I got off the pill once we became engaged but we still use protection. I just wanted it out of my system so I had more of a chance to become pregnant once we make the decision. Soon hopfully :)

We waited 51/2 years after marriage and 10 years together. I'm glad we did because I feel we got to do a lot more things together as a couple and work on our relationship before a child was in the picture.

I wouldn't, but I definitely didn't have a ring on my finger when I got knocked up.

While we are not at the marriage stage yet -- I know that my answer would be to keep on the pills. There is no way I am not drinking at my wedding! I have even gone as far as warned my guy that should we get pregnant by accident prior to our wedding that there would be no way I would rush a wedding A and B no way I wouldnt be the one partying hardest at my own wedding and honeymoon!

We got married the summer after my first year in law school, so there was no way we were going risk a baby while I was still in school ! We were married for 4 1/2 years before I got pregnant, and for us, that was the best case scenario. We got to do a lot of things as a couple (travel, buy a house) and I got to knock a few biggies off of my life "to do" list, and now we're ready for a baby, and expecting in October ! :)

i think i would do this as soon as we're married, but i would be too nervous to do it as soon as i got engaged because if you have an engagement longer than a few months, either you could be hugely pregnant or you could have a baby already! i would wait til the wedding, then i'd probably go off the pill (because my bf and i would like kids sooner than later) - i agree, for many couples, they would prefer to wait until they've been married for awhile, and in that case, i wouldn't want to risk it either

We didn't take any risks with out birthcontrol until we were sure we were ready! We were married younger, by choice, but knew we just weren't at a place where we were ready for a family. Really glad we didn't take any risks either because when I went off the pill, I didn't even have 1 period before I was pregnant, and we thought we might have trouble because of my husbands health history! I'm quite sure that if we'd been careless about it early on, we probably wouldn't have 10 years of marriage and 3 kids and be very happy like we are now!

I'm not pregnant or engaged at this point, but I would like to say that I would never toss my birth control until I was completely ready to have a child. Doesn't matter if I'm engaged or even married.
