No parent expects to outlive their child and sadly that is a reality that Presidential candidate John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth live.
Their oldest child, son Wade died in a car accident in 1996. On today's, Tyra, the Democratic candidate talks about the loss of his 16-year-old son and how his other three children, Cate, Emma Claire, and Jack remember him.

Very sad. I can't imagine losing my son. I don't know how I'd ever begin to deal with it.
On a different note, if Edwards was that real and honest when speaking of his ideas for this country, I would probably like him more. This is the first I've heard him say anything without sounding like a total phony.
1it sucks that he has to be on tyrant's show which is usually for stuff like fashion (not that i don;t like fashion) and trannies... does oprah not let anyone except her chosen candidate on?
2you know there are a lot of presidential hopefuls who have lost a child. seems like an unusually high percentage. and al gore almost lost his son in a freak accident too.
maybe it's just that talking about these things makes the candidates more human and so they are more likely to talk about it. sad. harry truman said "once you lose a child nothing is ever really the same".
3I can't beleive that he had to degrade himself to the level of the Tyra show. Tyra is a terrible, self-indulgent interviewer. What's next? McCain is going to be on the HSN talking about his time as a POW?
4I like Edwards! As a person.
5Hillary went on Tyra, too. And, Oprah has specifically said she's endorsing Obama. So, I wonder if she will host other candidates? She has a right to care about who becomes President.
I had no idea the Edwards' lost a son and now his wife is battling cancer. How sad for them. He seemed very real and honest in this clip.
6Hi,my name is patrick cristler and id like to share a experience that has been ever so life changing in ways so unimaginable. In may 2004 my 15 yr son was killedby a wire cable hanging across the road while riding his motorcycle on a forest service road in montana leaving behind his sister myself my wife and tonz of friends and family.I am currently in litigation against the most powerful system in the world today the US government although i cannot disscuss details of this case now due toi court order i am still fighting this this horrific event that upset our lifes as we knew it.for over 4 years the nights of waking and seeing his body laying in the road,,waking sobbing in tears, and a host of other related problems still haunt me.But what haunts me the most is the governments ways to deny the responsiabilty of this accident fighting it all the wayas a father i will not ever give up as long as life remains within me, the funds are now low to help pay the lawyers to continue as 4 years of suit has drained everything we had, as they ( the usa govt.) wait it out suffoucating the family in their desperate attemts for justice. We have no more funds to continue this fight of the govt vs the family so we ask that you keep us in our prayers as the final date soon approaches the trial is june 9th 2009.People should know no matter what the outcome how thier government treats the citizens of their own country. thank you for listening to my rants
blessings to you and your show
