I hated Huggies with my first, and the only ones that worked were Kirkland at Costco. Then they changed them.

With my second, Huggies work pretty well as long as they're the ones in the red bag. The regular ones leak everywhere.

I loved the swaddlers when she was super little. Now the ones that work best to avoid the diaper rash are the pampers cruisers. They're the only ones that help with the rashes...

Pampers always seem to give my kids diaper rashes - especially the fancy learning designs, etc...

I preferred a local store brand for the diaper stages and huggies for pull-ups.

Actually, I think cloth diapers are probably best of all for a variety of reasons but I just couldn't bring myself to take on the extra work.

My daughter has never gotten a diaper rash with g diapers and I really try to be eco-friendly.

I love Huggies, they fit really well and can hold a lot - which is great for my daughter who tends to have super huge #2's even now and then. Pampers is my runner up.

I've always heard huggies are best for boys and pampers are best for girls. I'm expecting a boy and am stocking up on huggies!

I agree like someone said. Huggies in the maroon bag are great! I hate pampers for my daughter, she thinks about peeing and it leaks!

I love targets brand of diapers, and you really cant go wrong for the price.
I also love some of the different CVS brand diapers, they and targets are just as good as the name brands, for half the price.

for really little ones (newborns) I loved the papmpers swaddlers...

annahlee, I recommend not stocking up on too many of one kind, just in case. If you find that they don't work, you'll be returning large amounts of diapers.

I also really like Luvs for my second.

cloth. it's not really that much extra work, and you never have to run to the store late at night cause you ran out. i have cloth diapered two kids, and the diapers are much more aesthetically pleasing, softer, cheaper, etc. the times i used paper diapers on trips i hated them.

I would love to try gDiapers at some point.

i don't want to seem like a diaper geek, but i felt like pointing out that gdiapers are no better for the environment than regular paper diapers. they contain the same chemically gel stuff (technical term ) that regular disposables do, only with these you are putting it directly into the water supply (that is, if they don't start backing up your toilet, which they are notorious for doing) instead of in a landfill. i also don't feel like the plastic-y lining provides good air circulation for the baby's skin.

Yea Target Brand!

Does anyone notice the "breastfed poop smell" that seems to come with Pampers. We could never tell if our kids were dirty because the diapers were pre-poop scented. I couldn't stand it!

For disposables like Greggie said, it depends on the baby, Luvs were the best for my first and Pampers work great for my third.
I prefer cloth diapers and use Bum Genius most of the time.

Also do some math between store brand and Name Brand diapers. It is a BIG difference and remember that kids only wear diapers for a few hours before they get a new one.

I tried different brands and stuck with Pampers. Now, my son has regular nightly leaks which is really frustrating. So I bought some HUggies and Luvs in one size larger. I will experiment and see what works. SO, I haven't found the perfect diaper, even though he is 17 mos. However we have only had two mini diaper rashes since he was born, so I feel good about that. I don't know if we had used cloth how that would have changed things.

Unless the generic cause you to change much more often, which kilsl the savings.

We've done a breakdown overall, and with the exception of the old Kirkland diapers, name brand are more cost-effective for us because of the leak factor.

Ylatan, there are no diaper services in my area. Apparently they all went out of business.

I agree with Greggie's last comment. There are some cheaper brands that are ok, but the brand names really are better.

we had the same rash issue with pampers (and the cheaper diapers) that jen76 did. huggies worked best for us. the cheaper ones leaked and one of my girls liked to shread the filling which was eaiser to get to in the cheaper ones

ALso, has anyone ever used the Chlorine free Second Generation diapers? I did when my son was very new and was pleased with them, however ended up just using regular because they are easier to find, plus every time my mom comes over she has a big box of Pampers with her...

OK, last comment I promise I also found that even different types of the same brand can vary widely in how well they work.

We plan on using a combination of cloth and disposable diapers - there are still at least two diaper services here in the SF Bay Area that provide you with a starter set up a few weeks before your due date, delivery and pick up.
At the same time, I'm not going to be a SAHM and although we haven't worked out day care vs. nanny share vs. my slightly loony uncle, most day care centers "require" disposable diapers.

I use generic.I either get my diapers from Walmart or Krogers and they work just fine.

I like Pampers; they have never leaked on my daughter. Someone gave us a huge box of Huggies when she was born, but they didn't work at all. Every time she pooped, it ran out all over her clothes. My friend, a NICU nurse, said the same thing about Huggies. But a lot of you ladies seem to like them, so I'll try again with our next baby; the box is still in my closet! Maybe each little behind is different?

I usually use Target brand for my older son, they work really well and are the cheapest I have found. I also like cloth which I used until my washer broke. I prefer the Fuzzi Bunz. They are so much like the disposable even my husband didn't have a problem changing them. I really didn't like the Pampers, they have a weird smell to them and really stink even with the tiniest bit of pee.

I started out with Huggies for my son, but then changed to the Target brand for price alone and found that they were great! I also use their pull-ups, but they are often sold out, so I go back to Huggies. Target rocks. I even used their formula after he was 3 months old.

Here in the UK, it's Tesco, most mothers agree. The only trouble with this is Tesco is a) an evil supermarket and b) the very devil to get around, particularly the ones in the centre of London, which are crowded to bursting and horrible. I hate having to go that one extra place, but the nappies are vastly worth it.

I've gone through quite a few brands of diapers with my three-month-old and I've found Pampers to be the best for us.

Luvs were good for not leaking, but they didn't breathe, either. Every time I took his diaper off, all of his little bits would be stuck together and stuck to his leg.

Huggies were nice and soft and very beathable, but almost every, single diaper leaked. Especially at night. The leg holes were simply too large.

Pampers are somewhere in the middle on breathability and rarely leak, so I'm sticking with Pampers from here on out.

Pampers Swaddlers are the best! The material is so much softer than any other brand!
