Teachers work hard to educate our children, stimulate their learning skills, and inspire them to read, write, and be creative. We all know that their salaries often don't reflect all of the effort that goes into their job. Teachers make a difference every day for scores of children — now it's our turn to make a difference for them.
Most teachers have to get up at the crack of dawn to meet and greet our lil angels so a piping hot cup of coffee that isn't from the teacher's lounge is a useful gift. Present them with a Starbucks gift card.

Stereotypically, teachers are said to carry huge canvas bags everywhere they go. While some do, it's nice to change it up a bit. Give your teacher something sassy to carry her papers, laptop or book around in. The silk vibrant laptop bag from Paper Source is sure to be a hit.
And as shocking as it may be, teachers also have fulfilling lives outside of classrooms. Like most adults, they like to have a glass of wine on occasion. Put together a nice package of two wine glasses and a bottle of wine to add to a teacher's holiday cheer.

Love your teachers! My mom is a first grade teacher and she works incredibly hard. They deserve a reward!
1And for heavens sake - please don't give them candles, lotion or coffee mugs. My poor sister in law has so much of this stuff it is unbelieveable.
Gift cards for a teacher are probably the way to go if you ask me.
2And stay away from apples!
3Those are great suggestions! I almost got Little Man's teachers these little inspirational teacher book things from Barnes & Noble until my friend (a former third grade teacher) started pulling those little books out of all these little nooks and crannies in her house to show me.
I ended up getting nice boxes of fancy chocolates for them. Maybe a gift card next year....
4my mom is also a teacher. unfortunately, she doesn't like lotions and shower stuff either, so she usually gives it to me or my sister. she really likes the gift cards because she can use them anywhere - even the grocery store. she also likes chocolates
5Chocolate is good too!
6Gift cards seem to be easy for us parents and most enjoyable for the teachers. We gave my daughter's teachers Barnes & Noble gift cards this year. I figure they can buy a book for themselves, or even for the classroom. They seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed them!
7Gift cards are great. I'm a high school teacher and love the gift card gift! (although all are really appreciated)
8I was a Kindergarten teacher for two years, and gift cards are the best! Normally I think gift cards are not the greatest present, but this is definitely an exception! Teacher's gifts are really like bonuses, I mean, it's not like many of the parents know the teachers personally, so they shouldn't be expected to try to figure out what to get for the teacher, then settle on an apple-themed coffee mug!
And as far as candy or treats go...personally I would advise staying away since so many people are watching their weight, and holiday time is the worst time! I was lucky, when I taught I had five roommates so I just put the stuff out and we all ate it! However, if you're tight on cash, and the thought of giving out $20 gift cards to every "service" type person in your life is just overwhelming, I did love home-made edible treats. Jams, home-made chocolate...that I could make an exception to my diet for!
9I got my friend a starbucks card.. I mean anyone who likes coffee in the morning thats a great gift for anyone.
Those are great gifts for teachers or giving them a gift card at restaurants.
10My son has two teachers, so I gave them each a $10 gift card to the local coffee shop, it stocks local goodies, and awesome tea so I thought if they don't drink coffee they could at least get a snack.
