If you're pregnant, I'm sure you've heard that reading and playing music for your unborn baby supposedly makes them the next Einstein. Now, they've come out with a prenatal education system called Baby Plus. Their website claims:
"Our patented prenatal curriculum is designed to strengthen your baby's learning capabilities with naturally derived audio lessons."
The gadget runs $150, but there are quite a few parent reviews on their site that say the results are worth every penny. One proponent says:
"My son . . . is very musical and learns extremely fast. He is saying words like "blueberry" and "hot potato" already at 14 months — just amazing! My husband and I will be using BabyPlus when we have another child, for sure!"
Former party girl Nicole Richie snatched one up for her little bundle.

2I don't get this. The best way to get a smart baby is making sure you connect with a genetically smart man or woman. I'm sure this will sell though, since so many people want the best for their babies and I don't blame them.
3This is just going way too far for me.
4I used an old fashioned headset to play music and sang and talked to my baby while I was pregnant.
Not sure if this is really worth 150 bucks.
5I did the same as JennyJen, and I have one who isn't musical at all but learns at lightning speed, and one who's a born song-writer but learns much more slowly. I just don't think playing this for them in utero is going to make them change that genetic tendency.
6i dunno if i really buy this.. i think its all genes i mean im sure its good to play music and read to them and things like that.. but i dunno if i would buy a little gadget that would do it for me
7this is not at all scientifically proven (case control method, published in peer review journals, findings replicated, etc). although harmless, it's complete waste of money.

And Nicole Richie having this is not going to get me running out and buying one. She has not always made the best decisions for herself - I can hardly see following her parenting style.

11It doesn't play music. It has like 16 different graduated levels of heartbeat sounds. You are supposed to wear it one hour in the morning and one hour at night. Being gadgety I fell for the advertisements and purchased one. The positive reviews it gets are insane. My biggest question is how do you know? Reading some of their "scientific" findings I now wonder if the type of parent that uses this is just going to push the child more when it's out of the womb. I'm pretty sure that any parent that cares and is very involved in their child's life could get the same "scientific" results without the baby plus. I stopped using the baby plus around 7 months as it didn't fit snug on my belly any longer and I don't have an hour in the morning where I could just sit and wear it. I'm pretty sure my son will be just fine
