If there's one book that's synonymous with bedtime, it's Goodnight Moon. I was given at least three copies of it when I was pregnant. It is one of the few books that my husband and I both recall our parents reading to us when we were wee ones. He claims that it can still put him to sleep. (I keep a copy of it on our bedside table in case of emergencies).
Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd created this masterpiece over 60 years ago and it has become a staple in most children's libraries. There are bright colored illustrations as well as black and white ones to hold a baby's attention. On top of the pretty artwork, the story is written in a sweet and soothing rhyme - just what baby needs at bedtime.
Goodnight noises everywhere... yawn.

Yep - This was one of the first books I picked up when I learned I was pregnant.
1Love this book. But I had to buy my own! No fair!
2I too got several copies of this when I had my kid. The Seattle Children's Theater made a play out of it...but it just didn't have the same vibe. I love this book.
3Oh I love this book! Have ya'll seen the skit where Christopher Walken reads it? It is hilarious!!
4Awww. This brings back happy memories of my mom reading to me...
5Awww... Goodnight Moon is one of my favorite books to read to my godchildren
6We recently got this and Mikey loves it.
7Such a great book. Another good bedtime story is Dr. Seuss' Sleep Book. My sister could never make it to the end!
8I hate this book with a passion. It's weak and has lame illustrations. Unfortunately, My toddler LOVES it.
9I truly wonder how this book became a "classic".
I still have the copy my mom read to me and my brother as kids and now I read it to my baby boy. He LOVES it!!
10I love this book! I remember my mom reading it to me when I was little.
11My daughter (now 4) has had this book since she was a day old, and now has it memorized. She has since passed it down to her 2 yr old brother, and he's crazy for it! Whata classic....every child needs a copy. It's a great way to wind down for bed...it even makes me yawn!
12A classic -- my children loved it when I read to them -- I'm sure they will read it to their children someday!
13I love it!!
14Love it! My daughter is 7 and still likes to read it.
15We have two copies, a hardback and a paperback. Sandra boyton is another awesome writer!
16I need to buy a second copy. My mom bought lil Harper her first copy, but it was laying next to her in her swing when she exploded out of her pants. I threw it away.
17I used to LOVE this book!
