If you've got kids who are picky eaters, why not trick them into eating their vegetables by slipping beet puree into chocolate cake? That's what wife to comedian Jerry Seinfeld, Jessica, does. Now with her cookbook and blog, Deceptively Delicious, you can get your kids eating good food too. — Deceptively Delicious

Haha my mom never had to do that stuff...we all LOVED our viggies (expect for Brussel Sprouts but both my parents hated them too).

I really don't think that this is a good idea. When kids are asked if they like cauliflower they will say no when in fact they do like it!

I think it's important to note that Jessica doesn't advocate abandoning all efforts to get kids to eat vegetables. She says that her recipes are just a way to make sure the vegetables get eaten. She still puts out fresh fruits/veggies at each meal. Besides, hidden vegetables are better than no vegetables at all.

I liked on Oprah when they had the kids eat the food first and then told them what vegetable was in it. They sounded a little coached, but I think the kids really did start to rethink their anti-vegetable stances after learning they could taste good when prepared properly.

    What a great idea.

Because of who she is, at first I was skeptical. After reading an article about her, I think she's really passionate about it. She seemed very genuine.

I always ate my veggies, so I hope that I don't experience the same problems with my kids some day!

My grandma once told me that when her kids were little she carved zucchini to look like a fish and then she breaded it and fried it and then said that it WAS fish. I think it worked once.

As an adult I still dont like a lot of the veggies. So I always slip veggies into things, mostly bell peppers. I literally put bell peppers into just about every meal

Yeah i think it's a kinda stupid idea. you're basically tricking them into eating things and then they still think they don't like 'em. i think u have to keep on shoving different things in ur kids mouths. not disguising them.

I just bought this recipe book

I don't eat veggies.. or fruit for that matter

I don't like the texture of them.. and I refuse to go near them always have.. My mum always tried really hard..But i'd just throw up my food on my plate.. Gross I know

So when I heard about this book I thought "hah salvation"... Because I know I need the veggies, I just won't eat them..and this way I can finally get the veggies that I need Smiling

    So yay

It sounds like a good idea but there's a problem. She's steaming the heck out of these foods before she mixes them in with other things. Everything gets cooked twice. There are no vitamins left by the time your done.

Forget the kids, this sounds like it's a wonderful idea for me!
I'm really really bad about eating veggies unless it's in Chinese or Vietnamese food which I'm usually too lazy to make.

My mom bought me this book because I'm 19 and hate vegetables. It's actually a great book.

I just bought this book too and I don't have any kids, I'm planning on using it to get my partner eating some more veggies. After all boys are just like babies a lot of the time Smiling

Having said that I think Anika makes a good point I hadn't thought about. I wonder if there are any nutrients left in the vegies?
