Everyone talks about Jon and Kate who are both immature. No one talks about what is happening to the children, and negative things are manifesting and not in just one of them. This is a dysfunctional family on steroids and we watch the train wreck. This equates to the other show where people are filmed watching terrible things being done and do nothing. The ratings of this show truely tell us this is what most of us have become.
I'm all for women belittling their husbands, especially on TV, because men have been belittling women for decades and it still goes on! So, for a change, here's a woman who lets her man know who's in charge and doesn't take any of his crap. I wouldn't be too shocked to learn she beats him up when the cameras are not on. I think she's a role model to women everywhere. The only reason Jon's cheating on her is because men can't handle strong and assertive women.
This is kinda crazy to me! how can all of you sit here and criticise kate on how she's handeling things? I think she's a great mother, though sometimes its a little hectic, you try raising 8 kids and see if your life isn't. and all of you saying things about them making money off their kids... why aren't you saying anything about the rest of the families who have reality shows? yes, the do make money off the show but they use it to raise their kids and take care of the family the way they think is right. I think jon is a good dad but its like everything kate says he trys to go against it... no wonder she treats him like another kid! I think how kate doesn't want the kids to be dirty is understandable... my sister is the same way she used to take my neices clothes off when she would eat that's just takin care of the clothes... you know how much money it costs to dress 8 kids I'd be freakin out too... and yess they have money but that doesn't really matter. I don't think you should dis kate on the way she's handling this whole jon cheating thing either... why isn't anyone saying anything about him? HES THE ONE THAT CHEATED!!!! she's handling it her way, people handle these things different shea choosing to keep on and do her signings and why not? idk I just think its wrong to judge kate on how she's dealing with all this and critcising her mothering abilities!
my name is sam and im 1 of kates sisters and it is hurtful to read all these comments about my sister if yall hate my sister so much then why do you even bother to watch her show and just remember theres alot you dont see and didnt your mothers ever teach you that if you cant be respectful and say something nice about somebody ie: my brother in law jon or my sister kate then dont say anything at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK.....am I the only woman in the world who has a problem with the way Kate treats her husband? I have to be honest.....I really HATE this show. In every episode I have ever seen...including the very first episode...Kate talks to Jon as if he is a complete idiot! I am not saying that he is totally innocent....but seriously...how can she honestly think that treating her husband with a complete lack of respect....in front of millions of people...would NOT drive him away. I hesitate to say that I admire her. She carried and delivered six babies at one time. That much is pretty admirable. Her overbearing, controlling, obsessive and rude nature I can definitely do without.
OH MY WORD! All you people are ridiculous! Jon & Kate plus 8 is a TELEVISION SHOW! edited for better ratings!!! get a life already! criticize all you want but in all honesty if you had 8 kids (and having sextuplets is so frickin rare-DO THE RESEARCH!) and someone offered you a hit tv show to make millions of dollars(with financial security for you and your kids forever) wouldnt you take it? and if you made millions of dollars off it knowing your kids are happy (face it those kids are always happy) wouldnt you buy a big frickin house? YOU ARE SO JEALOUS
the fame and fortune has definitely gone to her head. I enjoyed the show for awhile but her horrible behavior towards her husband, her control issues and treatment towards her brother and jodi warrant her to seek professional help instead of parading around the country trying to sell a book on parenting and christian family values. She has turned into a prima donna instead of mom and wife..It makes her book unbelievable. I think the show is going to fizzle out although it should be terminated for the sake of their family.
Blah, Blah, Blah...Jon and Kate are doing the best they can...blah blah blah. Puleaze! If they wanted to do the best for the family they would step out of the spotlight and focus on their family and forget about exposing their kids on the show and opening themselves up to all the public scrutiny and ridicule. Those kids will be able to google themselves someday and alot of what they read will hardly be flattering. Plus they will get to see reruns of all of their temper tantrums, meltdowns and hysterics on national TV (don't even get me started on the pee and poo episodes!) along with all their peers, how wonderful! They are so concerned with all of their product placements, fancy trips, matchy outfits, whitened teeth, hair plugs, big house, new cars and interviews with People Magazine and every network talk show their is that they have blinders on to what many of us can see right before our eyes...their "family" is taking a backseat to all the flashy perks and they are falling apart! Kate reminds me of a greedy Donald Duck holding the shiny pearl in the oyster as the shell closes in on him while he is saying all along "mine, it's all mine". Did someone say anyone would do the same with 8 kids??? HA! Speak for yourself! I'd want my privacy and family life back.
The thing that drew me to the show and the Gosselin family was that they were a REAL family with REAL struggles that come with multiples (finances, house work, laundry, cooking, cleaning, basic day to day life). I myself have twins and I admired Kate, at that time. However, to me they are no longer a "normal" family, they obviously do not have financial struggles any more, it is pretty obvious that they have housekeepers, cooks, babysitters (although Kate denies having a Nanny, just a "family helper", sorry Kate that's a Nanny). Before all of the recent scandal, I myself noticed that Kate's behavior had changed for the worse, she definitely has let the success go to her head. I have read reports that she has no friends and their community says she has an intolerable personality. Perhaps that is why her family isn't involved in their lives, maybe that's why Jon's mom isn't involved either. It's unfortunate that their marriage is falling apart, in front of the world. The success of the show is bittersweet to me, I would never want the details of my struggling marriage to be front page. I am disapointed in Kate I just saw that she interviewed with People giving details of why they may split, just a few days after giving an interview where she stated they will deal with the issue privately. I mean shouldn't this be a time, where you need to just be with your kids to answer their questions, and make sure they do not feel abandoned and know it is not their fault and they are loved? It is my opinion that there is a way to handle the media, you make an announcement and leave it be. If there is nothing to hide the media won't be there to find it. All in all the show does not depict your normal or real family anymore. I can't relate to them anymore. Too bad

Thank you for this very lovely piece. I am a fan of the show, and happen to like both Jon and Kate. While I do believe she's a control freak with OCD, I think the producers pick out the worst parts of her to highlight in the show. I'm fairly certain if a camera followed me (and alot of those posting negative comments) around 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, they could find 20 minutes worth of stuff every week to make me look like a horrible mother and wife. I lose my temper. I roll my eyes. I snap at my kids and husband. But I'm also a caring, loving, giving wife and mother who would do anything for her family. I'm not defending the way Kate treats her husband (or other people) sometimes -- she's clearly wrong -- but until you walk in someone else's shoes, you shouldn't judge. I also don't believe their children are being exploited. If someone waved a few million dollars in front of most of us, we'd jump at the chance. The cameras won't be there forever, but the money will go a long way to raising those children (and putting them through college) after the show is long gone. I agree with the majority of Kate's kids being well mannered and behaved, EXCEPT for her daughter Maddie! This little girl has the worst attitude I have ever seen. I've watched Jon and Kate Plus 8 from the beginning and cannot stand watching any episodes with Maddie anymore, she is such a brat!!

It's true the Gosselins are being paid handsomely for their involvement - they're ensuring that every single one of their eight children will be able to go to whatever college they choose, and they'll have a hell of "one interesting fact about me" to share at orientation. Some of the commentators think that Kate should be cutting her book tour short and heading home; no doubt she is under contract by her publisher to complete a list of public appearances. If 1) things are as bad at home as portrayed in the media, they'll still be bad without adding breach of contract to the mix. If 2) things are trumped up and blown out of proportion, Kate is honoring her obligations. It's true the Gosselin family has chosen to live their lives in public, so there's no reasonable plea to leave the whole thing alone, but if your objection is to the exploitation of their children, there's a pretty powerful trickle-down effect from you not watching->advertisers don't buy->sponsors quit sending stuff->TLC renegotiates contract->Gosselins decide it's not worth their time. I hope this family the best and I think they have beautiful children with extremely capable and loving parents.

As I think back Kate was just recently rude to the crew that came to put solar panels on the house,as well as every other person the people that brought her stove,the microwave,the sound and camera crews. Her "friend" that watched the kids and gave them gum. I hope she had a nicer bedside manner when she was working as a nurse!!!!
I am still one of the few people out there in Kate's corner, or so it seems. Nice that you did this. Kate is a great mom. She will get through all this and be stronger for it.

I am totally disgusted with any parent who expoits their kids. Jon and Kate should be ashamed and have the kids taken away. The trauma of thier earlier years on tv and them being exposed to such luxury will take such a toil on those kids in years to come. TLC loves the drama of an affair as it will bring more people to the show which is more money. Its really sad.
Seriously, this post is just "horrendously horrendous" (to quote Kate Gosselin) and absolutely ridiculous. You admire someone because she figured out how to exploit her children and make money off of them? Parents in third world countries do the same thing by selling their children in the sex trade, the Gosselins just sell their children's privacy and dignity. No child should have to live in a house with permanently attached studio lighting and a camera crew following them around and filming them crapping in a plastic toilet in a laundry room. It is just sick and if their "our life is our show and our show is our life" was filmed in California at least those kids would have some laws protecting them. And all of you fans just keep the exploitation machine chugging along. All of those visits Kate makes to churches make me especially sick because why would anyone who is a Christian support children being exploited and taken advantage of?
well geez LilaBo, They sell dvd's of all the episodes and I have two girls. 1)The show does have others in it. 2I never said I "hated" anyone. (do you work for a tabloid? twisting my words.) 3)I never mentioned Her hair. I just wanted to tell the truth about her actions - no I don't like alot of the things she does or the way she talks AT people.
