how old is she?
1I thought you were supposed to start weaning at one?
Holy hell, Suri is 3.5 It's definitely time to stop with the bottle.
23 1/2 ? STILL with the bottle? can't this mess up her teeth?
3Yes, it can mess up her teeth! It's disgusting to think she's still on a bottle at 3 1/2 years old. Katie and Tom need to "tough it out" and let her cry for a few days until she gets over not having a bottle. That's ridiculous.
4There are gentle ways to transition from a bottle to a cup, but really, there are worse things. Plenty of babies around the world continue to nurse to that age. Maybe it's a comfort thing - a constant, with all the travel they do as a family. I'm not saying I'D do it, but there's no "set in stone" weaning age, and I'd imagine they've got plenty of doctors and dentists to advise them on her health.
5I'd still use a bottle if I could get away with it
But seriously, I remember as a child I loved bottles and sometimes (as in once a month or so, not often) as a "treat" my babysitter would let me drink out of a bottle.
6I don't really think it's a big deal. She drinks from sippy as well as regular cups, so the issue with teeth forming to the bottle isn't going to be an issue in this case. Given the fact that we almost never see her with a bottle, but with other types of cups, its most likely a comfort thing. It really isn't the end of the world and definitely not something anyone should be slamming as bad parenting. The bottle rot is from bottles at night where fluid is pooling in the mouth, or from constant kool aide in cups/sippies, not an issue in this case either.
7I agree with MissSushi, I don't think it's a big deal. And whether or not the occasional bottle ruins your teeth is debatable, some dentists will say yes, some will say no. Some will say it depends on when they have it, what type of nipple it is, etc.
8No, I don't think it's a huge deal either. I did comment on the original post saying it was a little long to be using a bottle, and it kind of is, but if it makes her comfortable, and she's still moving forward and using real cups/sippy cups, then there's probably no problem. It's the same idea as a child who is an extended nurser!
9I think it's time for Suri to get off that bottle. The only thing she should be drinking out of is a sippy cup. That bottle is NOT healthy for her teeth either.
