The National Retail Federation is estimating the average household will lay out around $630.85 on gifts during the holidays this year. For most families, a major chunk of that budget goes to the kiddos who have been nice and, perhaps, a tad naughty. Whether or not you plan on going over or under the national average, parents not wanting to disappoint their little ones almost always find themselves spending more than they'd like during the festive celebrations.
Do tell, what's the gift budget for your tots this holiday season?

600 is pretty easily doable with the avg 2-3 kids. We spent 200 on my daughter, and it got her a ton of things from new baby dolls to an easel and supplies, etc. Sams Club actually had this really awesome puzzle and wire rack set that we got her as well. Although, half of those toys are for her birthday on the 18th, so i suppose if it was just Christmas it would have been less.
1Well....this is our daughter's second Christmas, and she will be 18 months, which is going to be so fun. She'll have a much better understanding this time around. So I am going a little present crazy. We're buying only wood/eco-friendly toys...which tend to run a little pricier. So our budget is about $300-$400....it's a lot...but we don't usually buy gifts for ourselves, just a big gift that we need. So the majority of our Christmas budget is going towards our girlie!
2oops, that was supposed to be 300.. the easel alone cost nearly 1/3 of that.
3I only have one son so I don't really pay attention to what I spend on him. Somewhere around $200 I suppose. Next year when I have my second I will try to make it more even so I will probably pay more attention to what I spend.
4This year I am getting concert tickets for my son so it will depend on how good the seats are.
i think my parents budget has always been $500 per kid, so $1500...i think that's probably the guideline i'll use too
5We spend about $700 on Christmas, but that's for our 3 kids, my husband and myself, 3 nieces, 2 brother/sister-in-laws (we draw names), 2 sets of Grandparents, and a couple other little gifts for people. There is no way I could justify spending that much if it were for only a couple kids! Most kids have WAAYYY TOOOO much stuff as it is, and there's no point in buying a bunch of things they'll play with and toss later. We carefully pick things that they are very interested in and will get a long life out of, plus could be passed down to younger siblings. Our son's getting a DS lite and 1 game, plus a couple books and his stocking. My middle is getting a Rose Petal cottage, couple books, a DVD and her stocking, and the baby (1 yr old) is getting a playschool classic ridein car, a couple books, new pj's and her stocking. In our family Christmas is supposed to be a celebration of family and being together, not about the stuff we get.
6We stay around $100 a kid, and it's usually one bigger present and a bunch of small things. By the time grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, etc. get done with presents they have WAY too much!!!
7My parents usually seemed to do 400-500 each for me and my brother, sometimes more or less depending on the year. This year though my brother is married, and though I'm 24, I can't help but be excited that I may get some of my brother's pot since he's cut off. lol.
8Wow these amounts seem crazy to me! I guess it all depends on what you can spare but 100US$ per child can buy more than enough presents.
9well, i usually spend 2000 $ per kid so i'm looking at about 6000 $ this year
