No doubt about it — parenting is the toughest job... period. The only thing that could make it harder is the prospect of being a single mom holding down a job in a tough economy. Mums who are running the show on their lonesome are admirable and strong and though they may not say it out loud, they can often use a helping hand. This small stick figured animated clip, which was shown at the Washington Area Women's Foundation annual leadership luncheon, serves as a good reminder that it takes a village to raise a child, which results in a happy mother.
What was the last thing you did to help a mom in need?

City Walk
Fossil

My neighbor is a single mother (adopted a little boy), and I watch him (for free) so she can run errands without a 2 year old slowing her down.
Kind of off topic, but it irritates me to hear Kate Gosslin call herself a "single mom." She may be single, and she may be a mother, but she is not a "single mom"
1Runningesq, that's so kind of you to help her out. Kudos!
2As a family effort we will be helping my sister go to school and work to get a decent job. She has a 9 month old and had to leave the father because he was extremely irresponsible and dangerous with the child.. We caught him on numerous occasions sleeping with the baby in a recliner when he was supposed to be awake while my sister was at work, and Emmalee, at only two months old had fallen in between him and the arm of the chair face down.. his arm and a blanket were on top of her. Add that to a dozen other dangerous situations after telling her he wanted to be a stay at home dad and quitting his jobs, and it was goooodbyeee. It sucks, but he's obviously not willing to be a responsible adult, and she can never feel safe with him having her alone.
