Pregnancy has its drawbacks, but one thing an expectant mama can get some relief from is her monthly period. A nine month (and often more) break from her monthly friend is a nice perk for most moms, but all good things must come to an end. Eventually, the cramps will return along with the tampons, pads, and PMS. Many women don't get their period for a few months after giving birth (especially those that are breastfeeding), but some get back on track as soon as the baby comes home from the hospital.
How long until you got a visit from Aunt Flo after having your baby?

It took nearly 8 months to get it back with my first and my second is just about 5 months old and nothing yet. I found, with my first at least, that I didn't start having a period again until she was well established on solids. I'm guessing it will be the same this time.
1Mine didn't come back for real until 22 months post-partum. I nursed my son for a long time, which probably contributed, and I had a Mirena IUD, which also probably had something to do with it.
2Which baby? No multi-answer option for those of us with more than one child?
3I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones who has been "blessed" with the return of my period relatively quickly. I've had 3 babies and with each of them, but about 3 months post partum, it came back. I went back onto BC around 6 weeks after the first 2 but nursed them well past then, and thought maybe that had something to do with it, but with my 3rd I didn't go back onto BC and am still nursing 1 year later, and it still came back at 3 months PP. It's one of those things that drives me crazy. Would be nice if there were a tap you could turn off when you know you're done having kids! LOL
4Both kids were well into their 2nd year (around 18 months old) before mine returned. By that time I had forgotten how inconvenient it is.
5Mine came back in about 2 months or less, even though I was exclusively breastfeeding. It's not a joy to deal with, but I feel lucky I didn't have to wait for it to come back.
6I only breastfed for a few weeks, so I don't know if that is why mine returned so quickly, at about 9 weeks. I had just stopped bleeding postpartum and bam, there is was. Ugh.
7Three months, once I was no longer exclusively breastfeeding. Unfortunately after a year without it I thought I was having issues with my stomach or hadn't healed properly after giving birth. My doctor laughed at me when I told her this because she realized that I forgotten what it felt like.
8With my first, it was a month. However, with my second, it was five months afterwards and I was still breastfeeding.
9I got mine back after only about two months, and I was exclusively breastfeeding! I was really annoyed.
10I was just thinking today about how amazing it is to have a break from my period
I
could definitely get used to this!
11I voted 5 months, but that's wishful thinking...Gave birth 3 months ago and now period yet. I'm exclusively breastfeeding and plan to breastfeed for some time. So hopefully I'll be safe for some more time. If I never have a period again in my life, that would be great!
