"When people become parents, there’s just this enormous opportunity for change. I think for a lot of us, what we realize at that point, is that our children are so much more vulnerable than we are. So it makes sense that once we make that realization, we start taking steps – sometimes small, sometimes large – to change them. It's in the same way that we put a car seat in the car when we’re coming home from the hospital. It’s the time when you start thinking about the things you never thought about. At Healthy Child Healthy World, that is an extension of putting in that car seat, putting on those outlet covers, and those bumpers on the side of your coffee table. At the same time you want to think about finding foods with no pesticides on them, household cleaners that may not have chemicals that affect the air they breathe, etc. It's small and simple shifts that create a greater level of awareness."
