sleep sacks are not a good option for the going home outfit. you have to scrunch them up in order to snap the baby in the seat. and, i don't like anything that snaps up the back. it seems uncomfortable for the baby and a pain for mom and dad when dressing such a little floppy bundle.

2I never thought of the sleep sack option either because I assumed most people went home in cars, but a friend used a sack because she and her husband walked their baby home in a buggy. They lived within blocks of the hospital.
3Sleepsacks are just a pain in the hoof in general. Even in a stroller you have to scrunch it up to fasten the harness. I agree that they're not a good idea for a coming home outfit.

I don't like sleep sacks, at ALL. Our skinny baby was forever riding them up, and they were such a pain. I prefer nice warm body suits, with a onsie underneath. It was very cold, windy, and snowy when we left the hospital.
We had purchased most of her clothes in 0-3 months instead of newborn, becuase i had a feeling she was going to be big no matter what the doctor told me. But i brought a body suit in 3-6 months along with us by accident, and its a good thing because she didn't come anywhere near to fitting in the 0-3 month bodysuits or onsies. Once i was able to get up and walk around for more then a few seconds, about a week after her birth, we had to repackage all of the onsies and bodysuits we had purchased, washed, and folded nicely in her drawers, and take them back to the store to exchange for 3-6 months. This next time, I'm going to wait until after the baby is born to buy them all. I don't feel like having to do all of that again.
5my daughter came home in this little gem i found from westcoastbaby when i was in vancouver while i was pregnant with her. my husband and i loved it so much that we ordered another one (in blue of course) and our son will be coming home from the hospital in it as well as soon as he makes his debut. i couldn't find one in the states so i ordered it online and it was in my mailbox by the end of the week...LOVE there stuff. http://www.westcoastbaby.com/catalog.php?category=6
