"I just need one more kiss goodbye. One more hug. OK, last kiss . . . I promise!" While a mommy hopes her child will run into the classroom with curiosity, she also hopes to hear those words when dropping her tot off for the first day of school. But mama better take a good look in the mirror because chances are she's the one that will have the tougher time letting go.
Famous for portraying high-school student, Kelly Taylor, actress Jennie Garth admits that she is the one who hides in the back of the classroom before leaving her daughters on the first day of school. At T.J. Maxx's Save the Children's Back-to-School Program, the 90210 actress spoke about sending her youngest child off to pre-k:
I am the mom that stays in the back hiding. She's going to school where my other two daughters went to school, and they let me stay as long as I need to. It's not even about Fiona, it's about me and getting through my separation issues.
With her new acting gig, the mama of three might be able to use her onscreen "high school guidance counselor" title to impart some knowledge on her lil misses . . . and herself! When it comes time to drop off, tell mommy who has the harder time waving adieu?

Parents, definitely. When I worked with kids, I noticed that the kids would cry and be upset when mom and dad were there, and especially if mom and dad were there crying. As soon as they left, maybe 2 minutes tops, they were so over it.
1I'm dreading next Monday when my oldest child enters kindergarten. I was arealdy teary eyed at the parents meetign this week, so I can begin to imagine how I'll feel when my sweetheart gets on the bus next week! I'm excited for her, but sad at the same time!
2Neither for us. I've always approached it in a very casual manner, which was reflected in how my kids handled it. When the first day comes, we go in together, greet the teacher, put their backpack in its spot, then give a kiss goodbye and I leave. By the time I'm out the gate, they've all been playing happily and all set.
3I am proud to say that when my daughter starts preschool next month, I don't think there will be any tears or sadness from either one of us. She is very excited to start school and doesn't have problems with new people or being separated from me, and I am perfectly ready for her to continue growing up and to have some more time to myself!
4There weren't tears when my daughter started school and I doubt there will be any when I take my son in a few weeks. My family tends to get more excited than emotional over reaching milestones. When the kids move to college, that may change:)
5parents. my kids were like "bye mom" and pushing us away from the door
especially my last one, "mom,
this is kindergarten. i don't need you to come in". me; "but there's a project we're going to do together, parents and their child". her; "yeah, i'll tell you ALL about it".
first grade was a little more clingy at our house for each of my girls. by then the novelty of going off the school had worn off and the idea of spending the day with mom was more appealing.
6I am dreading September. Every time I think about my son starting kindergarten I start to get teary eyed. Maybe its because he's an only child? Maybe its that he's grown up so fast..maybe its that I'm scared to leave him in such a big place virtually unattended? I keep it from my son - he thinks I'm thrilled and excited. He's finally getting excited too.
