When President Obama was recently questioned about his smoking, our Commander-in-Chief said he was 95 percent cured and doesn't indulge in the habit around his children. His sentiment echoed that of father of eight, Jon Gosselin. Whether the vice is alcohol, smoking, cursing, partying or eating fatty foods, habits are hard to kick. Fifty-four percent of lilsugar readers admitted that they too mix parenting with pre-baby pleasures. Do you find indulgences less offensive as long as they aren't done in the presence of children?
bad habits are bad habits ... especially smoking. when i see someone smoking i want to rip the cigarette out of their hands and yell THIS IS GOING TO KILL YOU. i've watched friends die of
lung cancer and i just don't understand why people continue to be stupid and smoke. especially people with kids....
I voted "better", but in reality it's not much better. I guess I'm thinking of smoking and young children more than anything. Smoking around a pre-teen or teenager isn't a great idea but it's
likely the kid would know what you were doing anyway, so at least it's less hypocritical.
Definitely. Smoking when your kids aren't here doesn't make it healthy, but at least you're not showing them a bad example AND making them inhale cigarette smoke.
I hate smoking. I hate the smell of it, the smoke in my face, the dependancy, the constant trips to the store to buy them.. and most of all I HATE waiting on people to smoke. I don't want to
delay leaving becuase you want to smoke before (they almost NEVER allow for it), I dont want to stop a movie or wait outside a resturant after we've eaten and are ready to leave. I also dont
like the much claimed "smokers attitude" where they think its okay to steal. Walking up to someones package of ciggs and taking one with a, oh im just gonna grab one, is STILL STEALING!
arrrggghh. I hate the idea that i should be the one to leave an area becuase you just lit up. Sure there are other places to go, but why should i HAVE to?
I dont for a second think im perfect, or void of negative habits. My bad habit is junk food, but you know what? I dont hold anyone up becuase i have to leave every 1 1/2 hours to scarf some
ring dings or help myself to peoples kitchens. It in no way hinders anyone else, which is how it should be.
I agree that its better to at least not do it around your kids (my father didnt), but its not like they dont know. They arent idiots or oblivious. They just learn that bad habits are fine as
long as you hide them.. not a great idea, really.

3I think it's "better" to do it away from your kids, but it seems like people use it as an excuse to not quit their bad habit (smoking) altogether.
