Wouldn't any couple raising 8 kids go through tough times? I'm saddened they can't find a way back to one another. They will not have an easy time shuttling 8 kids back and forth between them... so it's not like they can really get away from one another.

I'm sad for them...especially the children. Though the show probably didn't help their relationship (of course it did provide some financial stability), I tend to think these 2 would have gotten divorced even without being filmed. Adding 6 kids to the family at one time would put a strain on any relationship, particularly one such as theirs that seems to have some underlying communication issues (at least as portrayed on tv). I hope they can remain civil for the sake of their children and the media frenzy which will likely follow this announcement.

I'm sad that they couldn't work things out... quitting the show and privately going to counseling might have been a good start. I've been addicted to the show but I think this might make me stop watching.

Wouldn't any couple raising 8 kids go through tough times? That no excuse the dugger has 18 children. The Hayes family has 10 children. There are no sign of tough time. I think Jon have enough of Kate bad attitude, but I think the sad part of all this is the whole Hawaii renew wedding daddy and mommy are going to be together forever.

I used to watch this show/ stopped some time ago. At first I admired them for their order - TIME OUT (no physical abuse) - good diet. Jon and Kate are two of the most ignorant - self centered - egotistical - pair of parents in US. Jon allowed Kate to treat him like another one of the kids/ I believe she possesses a shrew gene! Insulting - demanding - abrasive - insulting.

Jon is immature, living somewhere back in his teenage years. He's forgotten (both of them) that he's the FATHER of eight dear children/ not a gigolo! Kate got caught up in TV stardom stuff/ strutting her stuff/ surgery - hairdos- preening- etc, forgetting she is a mother - NOT an aging Paris Hilton!

The two of them are pathetic. Jon has zero self esteem. He won't find it with some bimbo. He is jealous of Kate/and his own kids. He too is narcissistic (hair implants - hungering after youth etc).

Apparently the tile of FATHER wasn't enough to feed his ego? For their children to witness this acid hatred - jealousy of one another is ludicrous as they 'pretend' to instill (ha) values in their kids. They have RUINED these children's lives. They've made a fortune exploiting them for their own grasping greed/materialistic excesses.

How pitiful - just another example of what shallow (TV) fame and MILLIONS can do to people. Few escape these temptations. You have to possess strong character (they didn't) to begin with. SELFISH beyond belief.

My God the country (they're too into themselves) is imploding with children living in tents/fathers without jobs and they THINK that America should care about their disgusting 'abuse' of their kids!! As for Kate slapping that little child out of her ill temper mean spiritedness. That child will remember that SLAP done in front of everyone for the rest of her life - more than any trip to Disney World etc. How dare Kate take out her lack of concern for her kids (making a public spectacle of the family) by resorting to this. Here's one forever X viewer. God help those poor children.

This is really sad. I really feel for the kids in this. Not only have they grown up on tv, but there is forever a documentation of the demise of their parent's marriage. I can't help but feel like they are not putting their kids first because the logical thing to do would be to stop the show and go to counseling and try to work this out.

This is just so sad. I knew it was coming but it was quite upsetting to hear. I think that instead of blaming Jon and Kate for staying with their show, just stop watching the show! seriously, they did bring it on to themselves. we all love the kids and watching the show but it was a bad idea. it might have happened even if they weren't on the show, you never know...i think the fame part really changed their lives and resulted in the divorce.

Come on people..John and kate are JUST as normal as our familys and their family will go through trials and tribulations as well as we all do....If They are happier apart then let them be apart,They love their kids dearly and have the best interest for them then everyone should leave all the other BS alone.. and let them work their problems out how they see fit! The kids are the ones I feel for in this. Remember when they did their big huge vow renewal and Kate said about a million times that the whole point of it was to show the kids that they'd be together forever? I lost respect for Jon and Kate both a long time ago. I just hope the kids can be okay.

this is like so sad. i love the show. it is just going to fall apart if they do it. they really need to just work it out...for the kids. they need both parents in there life. I just watched the episode and thought it was the saddest thing!! But I do not think that the cameras had that big of an impact on their lives as to cause a divorce. I think these two people always had very different personalities and just grew apart. They were pretty young when they got married and did a lot of growing up these past years. I also understand why they took this opportunity to go on TV. Eight kids are a lot and very expensive. I think the majority would have done the same thing since it is an easy way to make money while staying home with the kids (and i agree with their original statement about wanting to document their lives). I really do believe that they went in with good intentions for everyone. However, I do think at some point it became such a money making machine that communication broke down and they might have lost sight of the big picture. I do think it's really sad because it seems like Jon is looking for a way out of everything now and Kate may have finally realized what what going on but it was too late. I feel like Jon is out of the marriage while Kate may be at the point where she is ready to finally listen to him. It sucks because the show sucks you in and everything is probably edited but these are just my observations from what I have seen. I am sure there is probably a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes. I just hope that this announcement will finally make people to stop speculating and hounding both of them. Maybe they will finally get a bit of privacy.

Anyway, sorry for this big rant. It is such a sad situation and I do hope the best for everyone involved.

so sad, but i think they sold their marrige and this is what happens. I believe Kate git hungry for more and more fame. Traveling, going to conferences, etc. She just wouldnt stop and Jon is not as hungry for the celebrity status as she is.

I think she turned into a different person and he was not enough for her anymore and he couldnt keep up her pace.

What makes me sad is it seems like Jon is holding onto all this anger instead of fixing it. Now he says he has found himself, his voice etc. that he realizes he didn't communicate in the past & let Kate take over. Why not use his voice now & fix things instead of leaving. You'd think he'd try to do things differently, make his voice heard in the relationship...sounded like he was being stubborn & not willing to talk about it & try.

I never watched the show until last night but it was such a sad episode. The children were the biggest part of the show for me, such joys. Between the parents seemed such bitterness and the only thing I got for Jon last night was that he is young and he is only 32 - he has some living to do. I was a little disappointed. I may catch up on past episodes so that I have somewhat of a better understanding.

I feel for their children. They will have reminders how their parents sold them out. What did they expect when they let others help raise their children and their gone doing whatever they feel like. They no longer work the jobs they had at the beginning of the show or have the same mentality. All of them need counseling.

Oh for crying out loud people. Stop watching this contrived, scripted fake show. The whole "point" was supposed to be so we could see how they live their day to day, regular old lives. Since when does a regular life include visits from Emeril and the Tuttles, and free trips wherever they might wish to go?

They are only getting what they asked for. Stop watching the show so the ratings tank. The it'll get canceled and we can all just be normal again.

STOP making such an issue out of these people who have children just to sooth their own egos and make money off of.

Dear Jon and Kate:
There has been no mention of you accessing or asking for counselling. It seems to me that this would be your first course of action since you continually express that your faith is important. Prayer changes things! Have you both dropped to your knees and cried out to God and asked for His help and guidance? Remember your vows, 'For better or for worse'!!
