Everyone has a different experience in the delivery room, but most say labor and delivery nurses are indispensable. Nurses assist from the moment the mama-to-be checks into the hospital until the new babe is bathed, swaddled and eating on his own. They often spend hours coaching the laboring woman to the point of pushing. When mom reaches that state, the doctor takes over for the last 90 minutes and catches the child. While both jobs are vitally important, the nurses are sometimes overlooked as praise is given to the OB/GYN. Other times, families buy the nurses a present to show their gratitude. Did you?

with my second we got her a little something because we had a special experience with her. i don't even remember what it was. i took it back to the hospital about 2 weeks after.
1We brough my nurse a Diamond set- earings, necklace, bangels all Worth $20,000.
2No. I had a terrible L&D nurse with my first. With the rest, I had great nurses but you can't just drop into the maternity ward or send deliveries to the nurses' station. I made sure to personally thank them and left a card my husband picked up before I left.
3Yeah OK Anonymous number 2. I am just going to hope that you are being sarcastic, otherwise, that is kind of lame unless you are actually a billionaire.
4I ended up having a c-section at 41.5 weeks. We were in the surgical wing of the hospital for 4 days, and 90% of our nurses were fantastic. We sent a cookie bouquet to the surgical nurses about a week after our son was born just to say thanks.
5A friend of mine had suggested bringing treats to the hospital with us for the nurses during delivery. I knew I was having a c-section under general anesthesia so I wasn't having a "regular" delivery but thought I should bring something anyway. We got a huge box of chocolates for the nurses who helped out while I recovered. I ended up having complications and the nurses for the most part were amazing! I was glad I had brought something, but reading this article I wonder if maybe I should have brought something else by the hospital after we were finally discharged...
6I bought a bottle of wine for my L&D nurse who helped deliver my son, but we never got back to the hospital to give it to her.
7With my daughter I was a gestational diabetic so when my husband got me cupcakes for after the delivery he brought enough for everyone.
my parent's named me after my nurse; lucia
8I love to bake, and with my first daughter was looking forward not only to visitors but to thanking the staff so I baked chocolate chip cookies and banana bread....some for our friends and some for our nurses who were awesome in helping me through a rough emergency c-section. I am actually going in tomorrow for my 2nd daughters c-section, and spent yesterday baking cookies and today will be making the banana bread. Nothing too fancy, but I wanted the Nurses to know we appreciate their presence and help.
9Our nurse kept commenting on how much she enjoyed the music playlist we had on, so I made her a CD with some of the songs and printed a cover with a picture of my daughter on it for her to remember us by. She loved it, but the thing she said she loved most was getting to see the baby months later.
