10 Reasons Why I Loved Breastfeeding
You may wonder how I could miss breastfeeding when I had a list of reasons
why I happily weaned my baby. While it was the best decision for me and my baby to move him to a formula diet, there are reasons I gave my children mother's milk to get them started in life.

These are all of the reasons I love nursing
I am currently weaning my almost 1-year
old, and while I am happy to be done this phase, it's also sad that it's already going to be over!
1That's a really cute illustration
2This is nice; it's also nice see breasts in this way and not just sexualized and for men. To realize how powerful and awesome we are as women.
3Ditto on all of them. I'm still nursing my almost 3 year old twins and wouldn't have it any other way.
4Redsilk, you are still nursing your three year olds?
5I'm on my 3rd baby. I've made it to 6mos with this one which is huge for us! I couldn't keep up production for the first 2. I'm loving it so much I would happily keep going until she wants to give it up, somewhere around 3 maybe, but that could also be because she'll be our last baby, so it's that much more special to me.
6I Loved nursing, I nursed my son for three years. He is almost five now, and I still miss it.
7runningesq, I just recently weaned my 2.5 year old. It's not weird and a lot more common than you might think. The World Health Organization recommends nursing until AT LEAST two years old.
8I just finished weaning my one year old. I couldn't wait to wean but now that it's over, I miss it sooo much!
9In other countries, where breastfeeding isn't frowned upon or thought of as disgusting or sexual, they breastfeed up until 4 years old. It's not uncommon and highly recommended.
10I'm sorry, I still think its gross when I see a woman out in public proudly breastfeeding. No one needs to see that. Go in your car or at least away from people. The worst is when they do it in a restaurant- people are trying to eat, we don't want to see your breasts hanging out!
11Anna409: You sound painfully ignorant. If my daughter wants to eat while we DINE at a restaurant to do the very same thing (eat) then she's gonna eat. Regardless if that makes you uncomfortable or not...I shouldn't have to seek coverage in a car, or bathroom...it's the most natural and organic practice in the world...get over it.
12Breastfeeding has its ups and downs. Sometimes it was painful or my baby refused one breast but in a whole it was one of the very best things I ever did in my life. The joy, fulfillment, intimacy and alone time with the baby were priceless. And when the dopamine kicked in I got real cuddly and romantic. Loved those hormones! And never having to worry about sanitising bottles was a great plus. I breastfed for a little over one year.
13Anon: No, I am not ignorant, thank you. I do work in a restaurant and when I see women do this it makes people uncomfortable (not just me) Some parents dining out with their families don't want their children to see some strange woman's breasts hanging out- its just plain trashy. So if you're not going to cover up please go somewhere else to feed your child.
14I'm struggling with going to formula full time. I just don't produce enough milk anymore to keep up with my hungry baby, but I'm not ready to completely wean! It's breaking my heart! I only produce enough to feed her once a day and I feel like I'm totally letting her down! I know it has to happen eventually but I wasn't ready!
15Anna409,
16It is because of people who think like you that formula feeding has risen and brestfeeding is at an alltime low. I think it is important to become educated and to understand that breastfeeding is a natural right both for the baby and the mother. It is heartbreaking to be told that you have to feed your baby in a dirty bathroom just so as not to offend. The breast is for feeding children and it is not "dirty" as you stated in your reply. Hopefully motherhood may change your viewpoint. Best of Luck.
Anon:
17I did not in any of my posts say it was "dirty". I said it was "trashy". BTW: where are you eating where the bathrooms are "dirty"? Gross!
