Most parents recognize the importance of making sure their children get a good education, but one product takes further action. The Study Ball ($115) is a 20-pound ball and chain that attaches to a student's ankle and assists them in sitting still to concentrate on their work. Once the timer runs out, the cuff releases and they are free to take a break. What's your opinion of the product?

horrible. and an almost sure way for the child to learn to HATE any and all homework.
1Other than the fact that this is totally horrible and wrong, it's dangerous! What if the kid has to use the restroom or there is a fire? The site says a "safety key" is included, but COME ON!
2lol isn't that considered child abuse. I think that would be hilarious for a teenager (if the ball weighed more) but not for young kids. I'm pretty sure I would have come to resent my parents if they had put a contraption like that on me.
3Way to make kids associate school with prison.
4This has to be one of the most disturbing products I've ever seen. Any person who would actually consider using this as a parenting tool, should really reconsider having children at all, or at the very least reevaluate their parenting methods.
5studies have been done that say children learn far better when they aren't forced into restrictive situations-like desks with chairs-but rather sitting on balls at their desks. why would anyone consider a ball and chain?
6Doing homework can already feel like a punishment for some. Way to make kids hate school even more!
