Over Mother's Day weekend, it appeared that the Gosselin gossip that covered the tabloids and news feeds last week had died down. Kate was spotted at a supermarket picking up a cake, likely to celebrate her sextuplets' 5th birthday, and Jon was seen outside the family's abode playing with the kids and dogs.
But this morning People published a portion of its exclusive interview with the mom of eight dispelling the new claim that she had an affair with one of the family's bodyguards, Steve Neild. Here are the highlights:
On the rumor of her having an affair: "The next story coming out from the animals that stalk us is about our security person and his family. Already the allegations they're making about me are disgusting, unthinkable, unfathomable, and I am horrified. These are people who absolutely love us and want to see us through to the end. Of course, both of them travel with us at times, and we've spent holidays together, because, in this situation, your circle grows smaller and smaller, and it's very natural to become friends with your manager, your publicist, your security team . . . they're the only people you have left. And now they're coming under fire."
On her small circle of family and friends: "I'm totally panicking, and thinking, 'We are going to lose our last set of friends.' I keep calling them, begging, 'Seriously, I'm so sorry. Don't run away from us.' They keep saying, ‘We're fine, we're fine.' But they have paparazzi in front of their house. It's so upsetting."
To see what the mama of multiples had to say about putting her family in the public eye and the situation spinning out of control, read more.
On how she and Jon made the decision to put their family in the public eye: "We opened our world to this. We willingly made a conscious decision to put this out there. Our friends and family did not. I had no idea we would potentially take down the people that we love around us."
On the tabloid situation being beyond her control: "The scary thing for me is [the tabloids] are going to take information and create a story. It's a matter of, 'When will they stop?' They're going to keep going, and they'll make up stuff to connect the dots."
The new season of our favorite brood's TLC show, Jon and Kate Plus 8, airs one week from Monday.

well kate this is celebrity love it or leave it. stop now before your kids get the headlines, money isnt everything
1i tried not to believe it at first but i just picked up the new US and the evidence of jon's affair is pretty damning
2So when it's Jon, she says it's because he's stupid and doesn't understand the spotlight. But when it's her, it's the tabloids' fault.
3"Already the allegations they're making about me are disgusting, unthinkable, unfathomable, and I am horrified."
Is that supposed to be the denial? To me, this whole interview seems like she's avoiding addressing the affairs and just blaming everything on the paparazzi. Keep crying all the way to the bank, Kate.
4love kate, love the show....
and damn, she looks great.
5Another rumor? Whoa, it just goes on and on the cheating rumor.
6Thanks to this, I was actually trying to catch their show (rerun) LOL.
I wanted to see if she's really THAT bad (since people are calling her names and since I only watched 2 episodes before, I couldn't understand why people hate her so).
Maybe it's time to end the show they must have more than enough money to live comfortably on for the rest of their lives.
7those kids are 5 already! they are so cute
8I wish I could just say, hey end all this and live on your money you've earned for the rest of your lives. Actually I can say that, but hey, it's really up to them
With 8 kids, (and I assume that they want to put the kids through college) a big/expensive house they live in, Jon (and her) not working, and just basically expenses (bodyguards, publicists, some trips, food, children's, etc), I doubt that they have so much money saved up, although the amount saved up in their bank account probably surpassed any middle-class/middle-lower class family's bank account (including our own family).
And seeing how 'ambitious' the parents seem, they may want to save up more and more until they're sure all of them (the whole family) won't need a day of work ever again before fading into normalcy.
I caught the '4th of July' episode, and boy those kids are funny and cute, reminds me of my own son, he's turning 4 soon.
9Crazy b*tch. They should cancel the show and make money in syndication, get divorced, and let the bodyguards take care of the kids for them.
Oh and "I had no idea that we could take down our loved ones"... Sure, all the celebs say that. Sad.
10How can she put herself on national TV and not think everything would always be positive that's portrayed by filming or media? She can't really blame media when she set herself up for scrutiny by agreeing to be filmed does becomes famous then complains. It comes with the lifestyle she signed up for doing the show and anything else that would materialize for their family. It's a matter of being who you truly are and not worrying about media. Also holding interviews or using the media you complain about doesn't make things any better. Please just take a well deserved break you and Jon obviously need.
11Maybe it's time to end the show they must have more than enough money to live comfortably on for the rest of their lives. I agree. ... I don't think Kate wants to though - she's loving being a "celeb"

From my understanding, the kids already have college trusts set up. And -- I don't know how much they make per show, but with the show itself, and all the book publishings (Kate says she doesn't care if no one but her kids reads her newest book... RIGHT.), and signings and tours, I am sure they have enough money to live on.
12running, I didn't know much about this family (only watched 3 rerun episodes so far) and just start reading up on them these past few weeks.
I'm just thinking that if she's as ambitious as other people perceived her to be (heck, I read many comments condemning her of that), she's going to aim to the point that they (all 10 of them or perhaps more if she includes some other relatives) will be able to possibly live 'forever' in comfort and possibly 'luxury' even after the kids leave the nest and adults. If she's like an Asian mom LOL, she'd want to buy each kid a house too (heck, that's how my Asian family does thing anyway). Oh I read that someone estimated they're being paid $50,000 to $80,000 per episode (but I don't know if it's true or not).
I'm just saying, these days, with investments, etc, lifestyle cost more than ever. I know that my family spent quite a bit with a child around and he's not even in real school yet! (Pre-K isn't a real school..I think). And Kate (kind of like my mom) seems the type who will put her kids in private school too, and I've researched the tuition, dude, they're pricey
My hub and I are aiming high too for our child and we have college funds set up for him, but we know that it's most likely that we're going to have to make much more money to break even with 1 kid and we're pretty thrifty family.
13They have been very open about how they made 8 million dollars last year, and that was without half as much stuff as they're doing this year. If they don't have much saved up, they're even bigger idiots than they appear.
14Let's say I've watched the show a looot. And yes Kate is really mean to Jon. He choices of words is not that bad, but is disrespectful. To behave and talk in such a way to your husband, in front of camera is inconsiderate.
15If you want the tabloids to stop, end the show. You cant have your cake and eat it. You cant have a show and reap the benefits out of it, and then whine when people comment negatively. You put yourself on TV, and there are going to be comments, negative and positive.
You have enough money already. End the show
16i bought the new US which says that reality show stars like them would earn about 50-75K per episode!! so they're doing fiiiine
you also make money every time you appear on a talk show, every book you sign, every book you sell etc. and i'm sure TLC pays for stuff like bodyguards and lots of their childcare...plus the show pays for all their activities/vacations etc. which means all the profit is money in their pocket
17Hrm, this is interesting. It seems like the only place I've heard this security guard rumor is from Kate in this interview. Maybe she was jealous of all the attention Jon was getting about his alleged affair and wanted her own attention? I do watch the show and I like it, and that it shows the family's faults. But for the sake of their kids they should just sit back and not comment. Talking about it all just fuels everything.
18Did she think that having a reality show involving her children on a more family-friendly network was going to somehow "save" her family from this kind of attention?
19I watch the show and I use to really like it, one fact that i can't stand is the way she talks to her husband. She talks to him like he is a child and i notice it bothers him by his expressions and some of his comments.
20i was watching an episode the other day where they were all in the tv room watching tv and it was about animals mady was crying but there was something i noticed that was very disturbing. It was that Jon was on the bed and Kate was on the couch and he looked annoyed and unhappy as if he didn't even want to be there. I see no love between them at all and that is the saddest part. Those kids are adorable and the parents look miserable. Do you notice they never hug or kiss or seem happy to be together? Maybe it's just me.
