Mothers take classes on breastfeeding and even meet with lactation consultants on a weekly basis, but those experts don't tell her that if she eats asparagus, she's going to smell it hours later in her son's diaper!
The other night I hesitated before taking a bite, but caved to my craving and ate a few of the tasty green spears. As expected I paid the price in my own way, but the next morning, I smelled the asparagus aftermath elsewhere. Uncertain of its origin, I sniffed around and finally found the culprit! My lil man, a breastfed baby, had a pungent diaper thanks to his mama's diet. The next time I'm served long green stalks, I'll think twice. Have you noticed this is true with other foods?

I haven't had a baby yet but this seems obvious to me. I LOL at asparagus because it is sooooo good, but will leave you with stinky pee. It was also in full force at our local farmers' market this past weekend.
1I really don't understand this article. Seriously, so what if your pee smells. Asparagus is so good for you and therefore your baby - what in the world is there to "think twice" about?
2When my son was breastfed we had a stink problem with broccoli! I love to eat it, and within minutes of being fed my son would have the worst, smelliest gas ever. It always made of a lot of laughs in our house!
3I don't get it either. Asparagus notoriously makes pee smell, either your own or a breastfed baby. Who cares?
Then again, I don't get most of the "Why didn't anybody tell me" segments. They're either really obvious stuff, stuff that doesn't matter, or stuff that makes me think why didn't you research it yourself?
4EEEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!! I don't care for asparagus, but I'll eat it if its served to me but I won't buy it and cook it. The pee smell makes it even worse...but to smell it twice...no thanks. Sorry baby, but mama will NOT be eating it.
I do like broccoli though, and as long as it doesn't cause my belly bumper pain, I'll eat it!
5After you ate asparagus and nursed, did you baby have a lot of gas and discomfit?
