If your babe takes a bottle, pump and hand it to your husband. Allowing him to take on one or a few of the feedings will give you longer stretches of sleep.
Just plain dumb. First, new moms can rarely pump enough to fill a bottle in newborn period. Second, even if that happens, by the time the baby wakes up, the milk refills and she has to get up
to pump or risk a breast infection. Third, possibility of nipple confusion messing up breastfeeding. Not worth the risk. Much, much better advice is a safe co-sleeping arrangement so baby is
safely in the same room (see AAP proximal sleep suggestions) and all get the most sleep. Check out a co-sleeper or scoot the crib next to bed with one side down or removed.
