While some moms resort to putting the pedal to the metal to put their lil ones to sleep, others swear by their swings. One New Zealand mom has a new twist on lulling our tots to sleep with the Miyo Baby Hammock ($200) that simulates the natural swaying motion babies tend to love. The 100 percent cotton hammock can be hung from the ceiling or attached to a stand to cradle babies up to nine months old, forcing them to lay on their backs, thus encouraging proper spine development and reducing the risk of SIDS. The soft cotton is also supposed to reduce the possibility of flat heads that are commonly found on children who spend a significant amount of time on their backs.
Would you put your tots in such a baby hammock if you knew it would ease them to sleep?

1I actually own one of these. We got it before my son was born. The only problem was that Caleb was an 11 lb 23in long baby. It was great at first but Caleb grew very quickly and he did NOT like it after a month. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone who gives birth to a large baby!!!
2I would prefer regular hammocks.
3i want one, lol. looks so comfortable
i would think the swinging motion would help
them fall asleep.
heavenly35, why did your baby not like it? was he too long?
4I like them a lot, but it's way too much for us to pay for something that only has a couple months' use in it.
5How can this be for babies up to 9 months??? My kid is 8 months old now and he would jump out of this thing! I think there are other swings out there that do the same thing without being so HUGE or expensive.
6I am not normally an alarmist... but wouldn't having a hammock with sides that collapse in be similar to having bumpers or other items in a crib that could cause suffocation? Especially if your baby was 5 months and more mobile?
7These are really popular, not neccesarily this brand, but the hammock idea among people with colicky babies. My daughter was extremely colicky, had projectile vomiting, extreme sleepign issues, etc, and i did a bit of research on these. A lot of moms with children with these sorts of issues, espeically colic, swear by these. I never got one becuase I just couldnt fork over 5-7 hundred dollars for something my very large baby could use for a few months tops, but they have a huge following.
8Hey you can also check out Kanoe babay hammocks... they rent you a new one, once it is returned they donate them to orphanages... they rent for like $40/month this way you only pay for however many months you actually use it. I plan to use them once I have children (just researching right now)
9this looks unstable after baby can move a little. i wouldn't buy it.
