Are they going to call her Sera???
2Yes, I like it. I like that they tied Roes and Violet together in a non-obvious fashion.
What would be wrong with calling her Sera, though?
3You have Seraphine in the article but the link says Seraphina.
I'm glad they didn't make something up.
4I was expecting something more Victorian like Violet and not as frilly.
5i like it...and they kept with the latest trend we were talking about...the four names!!
6oh i was SO close, i predicted sage bluebonnet. well, i was right about the flower theme carrying on. i think the first name they choose is overly dramatic, but the other 2 are okay. compared to other celeb names it's fabulous!
7
uh, sure, its fine
(not really, its pretty ugly and I am sick of the three first name
names.)
I like the Rose Elizabeth Affleck part
I used to like Seraphina when I was in 10th grade because of the meaning, but I'm over it now. 3 names are cool but i like when people use the the mother's maiden name as the 2nd middle name.
10I agree with Graylen, Rose Elizabeth Affleck sounds better and more fitting for the couple. I guess they could nickname her "Sera" but it still sounds a little too "out there."
11I don't understand how it's out there. It's a traditional name.
Then again, people tend to think my kids' names are "out there" even though they're traditional.
12I Love it!
13Huh? How is it out there? Seraphina's a traditional name, just hardly used.
14
It's funny because while talking with a friend, I guessed the name would be Rose playing into the whole flower theme with Violet. I was almost right...
Seriously, can any celebrity choose just a nice normal name for their kid JUST ONCE? Why is it so hard to select Elizabeth or Catherine or Nicole? I don't even like Violet. Ewww
16
I like Seraphina. It's heavenly.
It's no where near as outrageous as some other
recent baby names, it's not too likely to invoke teasing, she has a choice of other names, none of the names sound totally unprofessional, and being shortened to Sera sounds fine.
i like it! unusual without being too indulgently weird -- like bronx mowgli!
18I get that it's as old fashioned as Violet, but it doesn't really "fit".
19My sister's wife (yes, you read that right...lol) is named Sarafina...which I guess is just a variant of Seraphina... I think it's lovely. :)We just call her Sara.
20they should have just named her rose elizabeth affleck, right?!
21I like that is not common but still a real name and in the original spelling.
22Given the meaning, I find it a bit creepy. It has a nice sound, though, I guess.
23it's an odd name. and it is odd that violet just has 2 simple names and this new baby has 3. i've lost hope on most celebrities using normal names.. there should be 1 school in LA for all the odd named children to go to so they all fit in.. like pilot inspektor and banjo..
24One of my kids has one name, one has two, one had three. I'm an odd duck.
25I LOVE the name!! It reminds me of His Dark Materials, the series that includes The Golden Compass. One of the main characters name is serafina pekkala, though I kinda like the spelling Seraphina better. Its a name I would have considered for one of my kids. Its gorgeous.
26I have a next door neighbor whose 6 yr old daughter has that same name. It was the first time I've ever heard it. I have no clue as to what the meaning behind the name Serafina is, but I know she's adorable and it fits her to a T.
It's actually not half as bad as some of the other names that these celebrities burden their kids with.
27My guy wanted to name our daughter Sera as a shortened form of Seraphina. I'm not to keen on it.
My two older brothers and I have 2 names and my younger sister has 3 names. My kids might have different lengths too. I think that's fine.
I like the name.
I like Seraphina. I wouldn't have added the second middle name though. It makes the name long and bulky.
Really, folks, what in the world is normal when it comes to names? I don't find anything wrong with naming your child with a slightly less heard of name. How many Marys, NIcoles, Tiffanys deos the world need?
29nice but its a little long & winded.
30I love the name Seraphina but it seems a little too precious when it's not someone with Italian heritage.
31It's also traditionally German and Polish.
32It sounds like a disease... "I'm sorry but you have Seraphina Affleck. All the test point to Seraphina. You don't have much time to live."
33Aw sorry, but I'm German and I have NEVER heard of the name Seraphina before. Don't like the sound of it, Elizabeth would have been so much better, it fits to Violet.
34It's not my favorite name but I do agree with others that it's not nearly as bad as what many other celebs have chosen. That said, I also agree with other posts that it just doesn't seem to fit with Violet. Her name is pretty but simple. Seraphina is much grander. It's not that I think sibling names have to match but they should "go" together. Her two middle names are still so pretty and match up with Violet so much better - Rose Elizabeth or Elizabeth Rose would have been a lovely fit.
35I've never thought of that name before. It is very beautiful. What is Violet's full name?
36
Well my definition of a "unique" baby name (which is what I meant by "out there") varies from other users I guess. I have never met a Seraphina, the only variation of that word that I've ever
heard is Seraphim (angels) in the Bible. Anyway, my point was that Seraphima is an uncommon and unusual name, not that it wasn't traditional
Didn't mean to ruffle a few feathers just because I didn't like a "traditional" name. Just
seems odd for these two who are named Benjamin & Jennifer, who have an older daughter with a fairly normal name (Violet). But to each his own, it's their baby so of course they can name
it whatever they want
And before anyone points this out again, I know that Seraphina could be hypenated to "Sera" and that sounds like it may go with Violet better but, to me, it still sounds odd like if one sibling was named Mary and one was named Esmeralda (just as an example). I think Seraphina would be more fitting for the daughter of an Italian or Spanish couple (not that you have to give your child a name from your ethnic background). Ok I have put way too much thought in this...I'm eager to see what this new baby looks like and if she resembles her big sister.
wild chiild - Violet's full name is "Violet Anne Affleck."
38Oops I meant "Seraphina" in my first post.
39
to erniew, what is the big deal? why do you care what they name the baby? your
suggestions are boring and plain. I have 3 kids with unusual names and when people
comment that they don't like them, I just say, "why do you think I care?"
Everyone has the right to name their children what they like and everyone else should just keep their opinions to themselves. That is what makes the world
go around. If everyone named their children the same boring names, how blah this world
would be.
my favorite flowers are Rose, Voilet and Daisy. But I called my girls thru christian and grandparents similar names
41Not a fan...it sounds like an old lady's name.
42Well honestly, whenever celebrities names their kids, people will always criticize it. Haha, I would dare say that the Afflecks have given their child a respectable name I mean Toni Braxton named her kids Jean and Denim..
43
i think Rose is such a beautiful FIRST name
...although it's much better than apple. i guess i'd rather go through life with the name of a flower than a grocery item
45I like it. It's certainly better than using a name that's too common.
46I like it!
47I think Seraphina is a beautiful name... it means 'fiery one' and comes from the word Seraphim, which was the highest order of angels in the bible (they are the angels who sing praise around God's throne). I think this spelling is either Hebrew or Latin, but when it is spelled Serafina it is Italian.
48I like Rose Elizabeth. Don't really like Seraphina.
49It's pretty for a baby but for an adult...? mmmh, not so much.

It's pretty, but there's a courtesan in Balzac's Cousin Bette with that name, so for me it has a strange connotation on a baby.
